I am fairly new to this board. Out of curiousity, I wondered which threads got the most views. I ran across a thread where some people complained (about 2 years ago if I remember right) that the Foundation was doing as poor of a job contacting alumni as ETSU does regarding the effort to restore football.
There is no question that we need to do a better job of collecting data and communicating but let me shed some light on this subject.
Prior to dropping football, I organized a couple of events in Atlanta to try and drum up support for football and the Pirate Club. One during Pergolizzi's tenure and one during Stansbury's tenure. I asked and received a print out of alumni in the area. I can't remember if it was ex-athletes only or a full list. I don't know what the expectations are for accuracy but the data I received was shockingly (in my opinion) inaccurate. I don't recall the % of accuracy but it was definitely less than 50%
After the BFFF was formed, we have tried to form an football alumni chapter and we were rejected.
At the very first (may have been the second one) Task Force meeting, Dr. Stanton asked for our database information so they could make sure they sent a letter to everyone possible requesting donations. We gave them that data. In return, we asked them for alumni data. I can't remember but we might have asked just for ex-football players. Their response was something like "It's not the right time" or "We need to speak one voice and all communications needs to come from the Task Force". We never got that data.
In summary, we have basically started from scratch. If you would like to join our foundation, please PM me or go to

Send me your contact info and I will add you to our database.
Thanks for helping to keep the topic of football on the front burner.
