WV is Independent Baptist, they hate Southern Baptists.

RE: Surprises on the Republican side
Fox is calling GA for Huckabee that would be more of a surprise since GA is not typical southern state because of Atlanta. 25% of the votes come from Atlanta. TN and MO are breaking for Huckabee as well 68% reporting in TN Huckabee with a decent lead, 51% in Missouri it will really depend on how the split between McCain and Romney goes.

Without CA Romney is finished. Game set match McCain.

We're not above deal making to further our agenda. That's why the further McCain leads the happier I get.... it makes Ron a more and more attractive bargaining chip at the convention.

I'm banking on Romney and disbanded Giuliani/Thompson/Huckabee delegates being sufficient to do so.

Well, that is only true if he hasn't sealed the deal. If he has the nomination in hand, he doesn't need anything.

RE: Surprises on the Republican side
Huckabee won the south and nearly added Missouri to the tally. He picked up delegates in Oklahoma, Minnesota as well. All in all it was a good night for him. McCain did very well with NE wins and wins in California and Arizona (even though it was his home state). Bad night for Romney even though he won some western caucuses. He needed California to have something real positive for the night and he didn't get it. McCain may be able to rot out to the nomination, and the only one who really stands a chance of slowing him down is Huckabee in Virginia (Pat Robertson and Falwell, Jr.) and Texas (lots of Baptists). I don't see Romney winning in either of those states. Romney might pick up some more western states and be competitive in states like Wisconsin. With McCain's Annapolis ties, he'll win Maryland.
