AUSTIN – A Texas lawmaker is getting serious about his bid to break up the Bowl Championship Series.
Last week, Rep. Corbin Van Arsdale, R-Tomball, filed a nonbinding House resolution urging the abolition of the BCS.
On Thursday, he filed a bill that would prevent any state-supported school from Texas from participating in a BCS game. Texas played in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 and beat Michigan 38-37. It was the Longhorns' first appearance in a BCS bowl.
His bill banning a Texas school from the BCS would take effect if four other states pass similar laws.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that its probably not going to happen. A couple of years ago, California looked into paying their collegiate athletes and the possiblity of leaving the NCAA. Well, we know what happened there since all the California schools are still associated with the NCAA.
