Someone recall to me what Kiddieland was.

Kiddieland was a small children's amusement park on Monroe Street, north of Talmadge. It was close to the Franklin Park Drive-In.It was next to Wee-Tee Golf, the Haunted House,Dodgems and Batt-Batt.It was on the opposite side of the street from Par 3.

Dad worked at Babcock Dairy back in the early '60s
Gallant Lumber was by my grandparents' house...what a fire THAT was when it went.
Kresge's Five and Dime, back when that meant something. Didn't that become KMart?
And I believe there was a Pure gas station on one of the corners right by the house in Trilby.

And speaking of Trilby...
Remember Otto's Variety? What was it originally?
How about Janney's Red & White Food Store?
Who is McGregor school named after?
The volunteer fire department, with several iterations before Walgreens destroyed it to build, you guessed it, a much needed pharmacy on the corner, hastening the demise of Janneys Ace.
Sinclair gasoline?

(way to hijack a thread, Karl)

This thread circa the year 2050:

Remember the Walgreens, Rite-Aid, and CVS drug stores at the corner of <insert major intersection in Toledo>... Those were the good, old days...

Hey, I'm from Lima and the original one is still there. "Hamburg, pickle on top, make you heart go flippity flop". The parking lot used to dead end into a wall and there was a big steel plate there. You drove your car onto the plate, gave the high sign to some mid-double digit IQ guy in the window who pushed a button and the plate spun your car 180 degrees so you didn't have to back out into traffic.
The big fear was that you might get run over by a Brontosaurus. One of the few remaining pleasures of being an old fart...reminiscing.

Darn, Boca Rocket, you are good. If memory serves me, Bargain Barn was a 2-3 story building at Conant and The Trail, right across from the Maumee Indoor. (I know--technically not Toledo, but still a part of Toledo lore.)

Now, wasn't there also a small amusement park on S. Reynolds? I was thinking that was Kiddieland. Am I wrong? Anyone? Buehler?

OK, heres one...where was a great place out Airport Hwy to go to and watch live bands and DJ's? (Hint: You had to drive past the airport.)

Extra credit: Name some of the bands and DJ's. (This ought to generate some nastolgia.)

Zip's opened on the corner of Tremainsville and Whitmer drive when I was just starting on campus at Whitmer. Nothing but a parking lot now, but it was very much the popular hangout.

Here's another for the "thirsty before your time": The Grotto.
