USU -- Offensive Coordinator
USU Fans - What's the opinion of your new OC?

What drew Guy to him? What type of scheme does he run?

Quiet optimism or quiet skepticism, depending on who you ask.

Guy says he liked his D1-A coaching experience, and let's face it, he has had more recent success than the Aggies.

Everyone seems to believe that he is very run oriented, due to the back to back NCAA rushing leaders he had at North Texas.

As for myself, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that our offense will score some points before the 5th game of the season.

People are complaining when USU recruits small RBs. But with an offense that relies on a QBs running ability, a speedy RB is a great thing to have, because it makes the option more effective when the RB can run sideline-to-sideline in a hurry. I think this type of offense is exciting. However, USU hasn't had the type of QB and offensive line to be effective. Leon Jackson has been incredibly dissapointing. Our offensive line can't pass block for longer than 3 seconds.

I'm excited about who we have in the coaching staff, but I'm not that excited about the kids we've had on the field. I believe with time that this coaching staff will put a product on the field that will contend, but that's going to take another 2-3 years, at least, IMO. That is, unless, our football team progresses far more than any of us expect over this off season.

But as far as coaching, you can't complain about having an OC that's been more successfull than your HC. I'm expecting to see a balanced offense with about 50/50. Many think run, run, run when they know of Coach Guy and Dickey, but I think it's really about 50/50.

Here are Dickey's notable wins over the years:
Boise St X2
Nevada
Texas Tech
Cincinnati (New Orlean's Bowl)
Baylor (hey, any BCS victory is notable, IMO, especially when coaching a Sun Belt school)
