Iowa was fun!...Lot of questions remain.
Hucky wins....Will he be able to win while being broke from here on out without the holy-rollers?

Obama wins in whitebread Iowa despite having a terrorist name....Do Iowans like brothers or just hate Hillary that much?

Hillary claims third despite her machine and cash....What will be her plan from here?....Lean on Bill?....and Old white women?...which was her strength in Iowa.

Guiliani opts out of Iowa....Will America opt out on him...Or will change his direction and actually talk about something other than NYC and 911?

Thompson did OK in Iowa considering he doesnt what to be President...Does America want him?

Dr. Paul did better than he polled in Iowa.....Does anyone care other than his rabid supporters?

Edwards claims 2nd....like Hucky...can he muster the cash for the dash?...Will he have to file a lawsuit on someone to recoup his campain losses?

Romney....gets smoked....despite his cash, organization and polish....Did Iowa think he is uber-religious scary and that he may color his hair?...only time will tell...cause his hair dresser aint.

McCain....Good showing in Iowa considering he mumbles instead of being assertive while speaking...Do Iowans like lowtalkers? and will this lack of carisma catch on?...Or will America start looking to his character and experience?

Richardson....Back to the border?
Biden............Why?
Dodd........OK....Whats the joke?

Polk County was devastating. It was the difference between 3rd and 5th for Paul.

One last thing -- Obama is clearly Ron Paul's biggest enemy in this.

Ron Paul lead all GOP candidates with 29% of the independent vote..... which is where Obama dominated turning out roughly 1 of every 3 independents.

Huckabee got 46% of Evangelical or born again votes... and here's the real ouchie... of those who voted for him:
How much does it matter to you that a candidate shares your religious beliefs? 56%

OUCH!!!! Is our country really that arse backward?

Fascinating -- Obama won the Democratic race among:

Democrats
Independents
Republicans (4%!) I think he got more GOP votes than Giuliani did
Upper income people
Middle income people
Union members
Young People
African Americans

and most importantly...

WOMEN.

Hillary lost the women's vote in the democratic caucus. That is the headline of this night.

Obama turned out a grassroots army and beat the wicked witch. What a campaign he ran. Brilliant. And a great speech.

I predicted the female fallout....The 3 in my life...my mom(age 77)...my wife(age 47) and my daugher(age18) ...all are against Hillary for the same reason.....The fact that she "stood by her man" and let him make a total fool her without standing up for herself during his whorehopping adventures left them with NO respect for her.

Well I'm still hopeful. I'm hedging my bets on great independent turnout in New Hampshire, and a much stronger appeal there with the Free State Project, libertarian streak, and general hatred (like 80% of the country) towards the current administration.

Plus Goldwater and Clinton did realllllly terrible in Iowa. I think only two Presidents have won the Iowa Caucus.

If Ron Paul does about the same in New Hampshire though ... it's time to reevaluate.

I dont know why anyone would be suprised about Iowa going for any uber-religious candidate...Remember...Pat Robertson?

Hucky will tank in NH and Nevada...could do well in SC..with the bible thumpers...We have a LONG way to go with the Reps before this is over...My prediction...John McCain will steadily improve..primary by primary and will be the nominee with Gouliani a close 2nd....Romney is finished...Reps aint ready for a Morman.

Still think Hillary will be hard to beat in the BIG states that count...BHO will have to really get out the young vote and get indys to cross the isle to have a chance....It could happen and I think it would be a good thing for the country. I just think his name will still cause him the few votes he will need to edge out Hillary.

NH will be RPs best effort...I see McCain at 25...Gouliani at 20 Hucky at 15....Paul at 15...Thompson at 15...Romney at 10
A win in NH could propell JM to the nomination.

You overestimimate Ghouliani's support in New Hampshire. He'll do almost as poorly there as he did in Iowa. I've got McCain 1st, Romeny 2nd, the Paul and Thompson

I've said all along that the Republican race will be long and may not be decided until the convention after several ballots. The way I see it shaping up is that Huckabee will win lots of delegates in the Bible Belt and some mid-western states. Giuliani will win lots of delegates in urban centers like New York, Connecticut, NJ, Pennsy and California. Romney will do well in the mountain states where there are a lot of Mormons and in New England and Michigan. Thompson and McCain will have some wins here and there as well and come in with a large number of delegates. And Paul will sit there with 5-10% of the delegates. At a brokered convention. The nominee will not be Huckabee, Paul, Giuliani, or Romney. It will focus on probably McCain and Thompson.

I've already predicted a McCain - Huckabee or Huckabee - McCain ticket. I doubt that anyone will have enough delegates to win the nomination out right. Between McCain and Huckabee the one with the larger number of delegates will bid for the top of the ticket and deal the VP spot for the other's delegates. If McCain wins N.H. he will likely win PA and AZ is a lock. No doubt Giuliani wins NY, NJ, & CA. Romney has to win outright because no one will pledge their delegates to him. If it comes down to Giuliani or Romney I think both Huckabee and McCain would throw their support to Giuliani.

I think Romney's negative advertising will earn him more and more enmity with the other candidates and more importantly their supporters (who will be the delegates). Rumor has it that he's going after McCain hard in NH and he already is savaging Huckabee. When you go negative, don't come asking for favors later on. And he went after Giuliani early on. So, it really will depend if McCain or Thompson can stay away from going negative in the primary season. If they can, then they stand to gain by simply staying alive. I don't see Huckabee's supporters if freed from their committments at a convention going to Guiliani.

I was watching Thompson on C-Span. I wanted to cattle prong him! He was so lifeless. There is No way that guy can win an election. He doesn't have the energy for the campaign. He acts like the process is beneath him. Boy I would love to see him against Obama. Can you say LANDSLIDE..........

He won two elections in TN.

I love Thompson's politics. He's my #1 choice. I think once you put his against any of the Dems, anyone with common sense will pick the conservative choice.

Two points:

Clinton didn't compete in Iowa in '92. Nobody did because it was Senator Harkin's home state. He got nearly 80 percent of the delegates to the State convention (which decides the national delegates). So that's not a good example.

But more importantly... are you seriously disappointed with Paul's showing in Iowa? He did really well. What did you expect? He is out of line with the current GOP mainstream thinking on too many key issues.

He'll do well in NH. But I can't believe you genuinely thought he'd get a fair hearing for the nomination. If he had Hucakabee's political talent, even without changing Paul's ideas, there would be an outside shot. But it was never going to work.

I guess I just assumed you guys were trying to put a shock to the GOP system and didn't really think you were going to win.
