Alabama beats Hawaii -- 25-17
Hawaii looked good but made too many mistakes. Three turn-overs compared to Alabama's zero.

Biggest mistake was a fumble by the Hawaii RB on the 2 yard line as he was going into the end zone for the score.

That one hurt.

Hawaii had a chance to tie it at the end but...
Questionable holding call during the last drive of that took away a huge play by Hawaii.

The Freshmen on "D" last year look really good a sophs. They held Alabama to 22 yards rushing in the second half.

Oh, and yes...Colt Brennan threw up during that last drive. Damn. That cost us 5 critical seconds.

By the way, that new clock rule sucks. Bama actually ran time off the clock after a "delay of game" penalty.

That's a problem with this rule.

It wasn't broke
The old rule states, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". What was wrong with the old clock rules. I hadn't heard a huge number of complaints. I, too, am very sceptical about this clock rule change. It definitely impacted our game with Washington.

Way to represent Hawaii...wish my dawgs could've fared a little better. There were positives, but in the end, we were just overpowered and too young. By the time we get to WAC play, we should be clicking. I expect Tech to compete for the title.

Hawaii could have pulled it off, maybe, but there was some poor clock management at the end. Anyways the Warriors played the game with a huge heart. Hawaii was down 22-3 in the 3rd quarter, old Hawaii teams would have given up, time to warm up the bus, but not this team. The even bigger plus was holding Ken Darby to 26 total rushing yards. The defense was literally being worked in the 1st half, but made adjustments and total shut down 'Bama's run game in the 2nd. The DBs still need some work, being it was their first game as starters. Hawaii has a bye week coming up, and will look forward to shredding the Rebel's in two weeks![/list]

The NCAA felt the games were going to long for an average of 3 1/2 to 4 hours per game which NCAA didn't like it. So they put in these new clock rules to speed up the time of the game. However they won't touch what is truly making these games long which is all the advertising that is going on during the games.
