MAC Fan Survey
Hey guys. Doing some research for my book on the MAC. Would folks mind filling out a quick fan survey and posting it here? It would really help me know how fans of MAC schools see themselves and each other in the big picture. Thanks!

1.Who is your most hated MAC rival?
2.Who is the best player you’ve ever seen in the MAC (not from your own team)?
3.What is the MAC’s best stadium (not your own)?
4.Best game day environment (not your own)?
5.What are a couple of the MAC’s biggest party towns?
6.What are a couple of the MAC’s dead-end college towns?
7.What MAC school is the strongest academically (not your own)?
8.What MAC school is the weakest academically?
9.What is the reputation of your school, program and team among MAC fans?

Thanks a lot guys!!

RE: MAC Fan Survey
I'm not a big fan of MAC football. I'm more really a fan of MAC marching bands, but I'll do my best for 1 thru 5:

1) Akron vs. Kent State ("Battle For the Blue & Gold Wagon Wheel")
- Both schools are 10 miles away from each other!
- John R. Buchtel wanted to start a school in Nothern Ohio, but the wheel got stuck in the mud in Kent. He later found Butchel College (now U of A). Three decades later, the dean of KSU unearthed it and made it a rivalry trophy!!

2) Glenn Edward "Bo" Schembechler Jr. (Miami University)
-Later to become University of Michagan greatest coach
-Was known for bringing "West Coast Offense" to the midwest

3) U.B. Stadium (University at Buffalo)
-Opened September 4, 1993
-Capacity: 29,013
-Centerpiece for U.B. Football's "Run To Division I" Facelift
-Replaced Walter Kunz Stadium (aka "Old U.B. Stadium")
- Hosted the 1993 World University Games

4) Easter Michigan University
-The sounds of the EMU "Pride of the Peninsula" Marching Band
-Where Huron alum can gather to visit old campus haunts
-Ypsilanti may seem like a middle -of-nowhere podunk town, but crazy on Saturdays

5) Buffalo, NY
-I was actually there for a campus tour during the same week I got my acceptence letter to U.B. (but didn't attend) on November of '04. On that friday night, I saw so many U.B. students throughout the city, even in Canisius College and Niagara U. territory (although many of the Buffalo schhol go to each others campuses for parties). Th next night my folks and I went to Chili's for dinner and the place was packed! We had to wait 45 minutes for a booth table.

RE: MAC Fan Survey
Oh my God ... I can't believe you put down Eastern as the best place for a MAC game. No offense, but it's the absolute worst. Attendance is lousy, fans don't care, the tailgating is nonexistent, and the stadium has no character and is a long, long way from the field because of the running track. Gameday at Central and Western is much better. Toledo has the best stadium.

Here are a few answers:

1. Best rivalry is UT vs. BG. Western vs. Central is number two.
2. Ben Rothlisberger was pretty damned good. So was John Offerdahl at Western. Chuck Ealy at Toledo. Phil Vilipiano at BG.
3. Best stadium is Glass Bowl followed by Waldo Stadium.
4. Best gameday is Toledo, Western or Central.
5. Kalamazoo is a huge party town. So it Athens.
6. Not sure what you mean. Mount PLeasant is kind of a hole.
7. I think Miami of Ohio and Buffalo are both supposed to be really good, right Bulls fans?
8. Not sure about this one. Most of the schools are very similar. I don't know much about Akron and Kent.
9. I went to Western and I'm not quite sure what our reputation is. We had really good pot when I was there. We're also pretty close to nice Lake Michigan beaches. The one thing I can say is that our campus is very large -- it looks like a Big Ten school and we have great facilities.

Good luck Bulls -- yesterday's game was a tough one for you. There will be better days ahead with a good coach.
