How much longer...?
How much more time will it likely take for Calloway to have UAB competing for a conference title, and eventually a national title?

How many years? After last season, I am very discouraged... at least WB is gone!

Realistically, next season is at best a five or six win season. I think '09 is the earliest we can expect things to start to turn around and have a serious shot at getting better.

I'd say '09 we should contend for the conference.

Given the current configuring of the Bc$, UAB will never, ever play for a national championship, and neither will any other CUSA school, or MAC shool, or Wountain West, or WAC...

Realistically, that will all lay on the shoulders of the conferences. Expansion is the name of the game...every sports conference in the history of the world has reached an expansion point...it's just got to be up to the CUSA to make it a point to be in a position to gain some attention when they want to add that 7th BCS conference...of course the conference then puts that weight on the shoulders of the individual universities. It's going to have to be a collective effort of the members of CUSA to make themselves competitors with the Big 6.

I think some prefer Alice Roosevelt's saying: "if you can't say something nice, come sit next to me."

RE: How much longer...?
We've been in position to double dip but haven't capitalized on the opportunities while Zero was at the helm. Having to play all the money games meant opportunities not only for the money to build the program, but gave chances to make UAB recognized nationally. With wins, at 80% of the money games over the last 7 seasons this program would be Boise St. and we wouldn't care about Legion Field--we'd be discussing the ground breaking of a new on-campus stadium. IMO I think we've got a solid head football coach now, and we need some assistants who know how to close the deal on top talent available to get this program back on track.
