Big Grin $ for FB, not FB recruiting.
Sorry to disappoint those hoping for another recruiting thread. :muttering:

Anyway, just got the EMU Foundation annual report for '06/'07.

Some former EMU FB players formed a group and raised 323K for the fiscal year.

That is sweet.

I'd love to see some of that money used as a silent phase fund raising for a nice project such as a Jumbrotron. (maybe 250K from that group, 250K from other donors, and the rest from prospective advertising revenues). 03-cloud9

Anyway, that sounds like one helluva start and will encourage others to contribute (knowing that FB has reached kind of a 'critical mass' for FB fund raising).

Go green!!

That must be the E-Gridiron group led by former player Petersmark. I have heard they are doing a great job. They have a link on the Eastern Football web page. I met Petersmark and he seems like a class guy. I also noticed his name engraved in the stadium wall. I think the focus right now is former players, but I wonder if they will expand the effort to all alumni as it gains momentum.

It is the E-Gridiron group.

Curious if anyone knows how those funds are being used?

As many know, EMU and other MAC schools, are playing a lot of high guarantee games to pay the bills.

I wonder if this money will be designated for high cost projects?

I'd also like to see some $ used to increase ass't coaches salaries, recruiting budgets, etc. even though those are operational budget items and not special projects.

BTW, I remember that the FieldTurf was financed in part using monies from high $ road games as a guarantee.

How about a scoreboard with a video screen? I'd also like to see paint on the inside of the stadium to cover up the concrete.

Maybe Gregg can write a letter to Santa.

I don't mind the concrete look, I actually think it's pretty cool. Some of the steel structure underneath could sure use some paint though. My guess is the money so far is being used for basic stuff. Better lodging, better food on the road, equipment up grades (new helmets, tailored uniforms, etc.). The stuff that is really important to recruits might surprise many. I agree on the scoreboard. It actually looks like it could be retro-fitted with a screen without a whole new structure.

The indoor practice facility will be a real upgrade when it happens, and probably a good recruiting tool for several sports. From a football standpoint the new weight room that it will contain will be very important. Serious football players are serious weight lifters and the current set up is weak to say the least.
