USU's class, with some comments
Coach Guy just announced he's still looking for 3 guys, an ILB, an OL, and a speed WR. Stay tuned, because we sure will be.

Jacob Actkinson, RB (6-0 205, Grapevine, Texas (Grapevine HS))

Speedy RB and 1st Team 5A District. I like his height. 7.1 ypc and 11 rushing TDs

Sidney Allen, CB (6-1 175, Merced, Calif. (Merced HS))

2-Way player who only played in 5 games as a Sr.

Jerome "Doug" Barbour, TE (6-4 220 La Mirada, Calif. (La Mirada HS))

Also played LB and DE. All-North/South I-605 All Star. 15.3 ypc. Runs a 4.8.

Maurice Bates, CB (6-1 180 San Mateo, Calif. (Aragon HS))

High Jumper and 400m guy who was all-Central Coast. Had 7 INTs.

Xavier Bowman, WR (6-3 190 Houston, Texas (Pasadena Dobie HS))

1st Team 5A District player. Hurdler as well.

James Brindley, S (5-10 170 Grass Valley, Calif. (Nevada Union HS))

We're really excited about this kid. 2nd team all-State and conference defensive MVP. Runs a 4.5.

Marcus Cross, RB (5-11 210 Houston, Texas (Worthing HS/Garden City JC))

JC Hon Mention All-American. Runs a 4.4. 6.0 ypc. 14 rushing TDs.

Maxim Dinka, FS/LB (6-0 210 Plano, Texas (Plano HS))

2nd Team 4A District player. 6 INTs. High and Intermediate Hurdler.

Tony Harkey, WR (6-2 185 Chino Hills, Calif. (Chino Hills HS))

All-CIF-Southern. 18.1 ypc. 3 INTs as DB as well.

Jake Hutton, LB (6-0 225 Pocatello, Idaho (Higland HS))

Walkon in '05 who earned starting position and led team in tackles.

Paul Igboeli, LB (6-0 197 Grand Prairie, Texas (South Grand Prairie HS))

1st Team 5A District player. 115 tackles and 5 sacks. 6'4 high jumper and power lifter.

Spencer Johnson, OL (6-5 250 Lancaster, Calif. (Antelope Valley HS))

1st Team All CIF-Southern. Runs a 4.8.

Monte "Junior" Keiaho, DE (6-4 220 Logan, Utah (Logan HS))

1st Team 3A all-state on best team in state (including 4A and 5A -- they beat 'em all). He may mission. We shall see. 67 tackles. 6.5 sacks.

Brian Mason, DE (6-0 220 West Covina, Calif. (West Covina HS))

All-League player on '05 CIF champs.

Walter McClenton, S (5-11 185 Arlington, Texas (Bowie HS))

1st Team 5A District. 123 tackles. 5 INTs (2 for TDs). Track star. 4.66 40.

Ryan Montague, RB (5-10 205 Houston, Texas (The Woodlands HS))

Placed 3rd in LA in 100m and led out in state champ 4x200 relay in '05. Katrina brought him to Houston where he was 1st team 5A District. Got 9.4 ypc, 9 TDs in 5 games.

Kejon Murphy, DB (5-9 160 Fresno, Calif. (Edison HS))

Fresno Co. All-Star. 3 INTs and 2 FRs. Runs a 4.5 40.

David Nafe, DE (6-2 220 Salt Lake City, Utah (Highland HS))

4A All-State on runnerup state champ team. Probable Prop 48 or greyshirt. 65 tackles and 10 sacks. Rugby wonk.

Riley Nelson, QB (6-1 195 Logan, Utah (Logan HS))

Utah Mr. Football. Parade all-American. Set national records in TDs accounted for, passing and rushing (53 season and 6 per game). But recruited by Washington and Stanford, as well as 3 Utah schools, but only gets 2 stars from Rivals. 01-lauramac2

Eno-obong "Geno" Odong, CB (5-10 180 Las Vegas, Nev. (Valley HS))

2nd team all-state as DB. 100m runner up in '05. Set national powerlifting record for weight class.

Jon Overton, DE (6-3 235 Honolulu, Hawai'i (Punahou HS))

Defensive POY in Hawai'i. 75 tackles. 14 sacks. 23 TFL. We are also way excited about this kid.

Jonathon Prock, DT (6-1 275 Clovis, Calif. (Clovis HS))

AllCity and All-County. 94 tackles, 8 TFL and 3.5 sacks in 9 games.

Ty Rogers, OL (6-3 280 Littleton, Colo. (Columbine HS))

2nd team all-state.

Derrvin Speight, RB (5-9 195 Irving, Texas (MacArthur HS))

2nd team 5A District player for 2 years. 10 TDs, 1,252 yards. 100/200 man as well.

A couple of these choices are curious. At very least we're getting some good speed.

USU78 - Overton is SUPER BIG TIME.

The RB that committed to UNLV (Te'o), was caught from behind by Overton in the State Championship game. Dude is fast for a big man.

Man, Hawaii really needed him.

Congrats to you guys for getting him.

Yeah, these two are going to get teased a lot. One's name equates to "Big Dink" while the other sounds like something you do with a joint!
