I couldn't agree more! Let's start with the ban on poker and while were at it I can't imagine a more personal choice for a person as to decide when to have a family. You want the govt. out of your life only when it suits you and your talking points. Top prioritry should be the govt. makes sure someone is not polluting the air I breathe or the water that I drink. Have a group making sure my children aren't playing with lead ridden toys. I wouldn't mind seeing some Port security and a border fence. We are so damn busy spending money on Isreal's war that were leaving our front door unlocked and nobody's home.
I've found myself migrating towards being a AuH20 Republican or Independent. First and foremost the govt. shouldn't be in my private life and the only way you guys can win elections is putting it front and center. Harassing gays and politicizing abortion. That's why we have GWB and this current crop of Republicans.

Those measures really aren't a restriction on me, the individual, are they? They are there to aid and provide for the welfare of the nation. I.e., constitutional. It also falls under the regulation of interstate commerce. Next?

I totally agree with you on the gambling. Banning it is stupid. Regulate it and collect the taxes. Those who really want to do it, are finding ways around the ban anyway.

As to the government regulating when you can have a family, get real. Unless you are raped, you have made a willful decision to have sex. Once you do that, all consequences that go along with that decision should be included. Whether that be an unwanted pregnancy, an STD or just the embarrassment of waking up next to "that" in the morning. The fact is that it is much easier to blame someone else than own up to a mistake. Don't blame the government for this....

As to the "gays", who is harassing them? I think they should have all the rights that straight people do, with two (non-rights driven) exceptions. Gay civil unions are not marriage and should not be called that. That is not restricting rights. They can marry someone of the opposite sex if they so choose. Second, they should have to pay more for insurance, just as smokers do. Their lifestyle choice is more risky and therefore, they should pay more.
