I bet the Eagles noticed our win over MEAC compeitior Hampton last night. A once "shoe in" for a MEAC tile or contender to the end, the Eagles have struggled of late. Last year, Coppin State finished 12-20 in an injury plagued season.
The Eagles return 4 starters and 8 letterwinners from last year, including a guard and three frontcourt guys they like a lot.
Their best player is a shooting guard, Tywain McKee. He finished second in the race for the MEAC scoring title with 17 ppg. behind Rashad West, who some of you watched with the Pirates Thursday night. The other guys in their backcourt have less experience or are transfers. One guy they are high on is Chucka Hoegbu ( Got to love a basketball player named "Chucka'). He seems like a smaller Sullinger or Cutley, a small forward who plays two guard on occasion.
The Eagles are nowhere near as big as the Pirates, and their biggest frontcourt opportunity last year was rebounding. They averaged only 31 boards per game and came in last in the MEAC in margin. Their frontcourt is made up of three 6'7 type guys, the best being a kid named Robert Pressey. Sounds like he is their Mike Scott...good leaper and good shooter. Noticed he had a big game in their opener with 18 points, but it was against a team I don't recognize.
Here's how Blue Ribbon grades out the Coppin State Pirates:
Backcourt- B+
Bench- C-
Frontcourt - C-
Intangibles - C
The Flashes ought to take this one, but honestly, I thought the same thing about Detroit. This one is at home, though, if we avoid a letdown and get Chris back, the Flashes should pull above .500 on Sunday.

from the Record-Courier:
The Flashes could welcome sophomore guard Chris Singletary back to the court after he served a two-game, university-imposed suspension. While he is eligible to play, he may miss the game because of a groin injury suffered Tuesday in practice.

I read that, too, Kentville. If Chris is able to play, I think he gets a few minutes. JC needs him to be in game form for the Chicago games.

Sounds like Rod Sherman is feeling better, given his first half performance. Also, McKee is uncounscious.

If the lead holds up, do you think we'll see Parks and Garcia?
