BYU is getting ready for a four-game road trip, and Bret Engemann can't wait to pack his bags.
``We play well on the road,'' he said. ``I like it when fans say derogatory things to me. It fuels the fire.''
Engemann had plenty of steam Friday night, completing 21 of 47 passes for 226 yards and a touchdown as the Cougars beat Hawaii 35-32 to make up for a stinging loss last year in Honolulu.
``We obviously would have liked to put more points on the board, but a win's a win,'' linebacker Levi Madrieta said. ``Last year, they were all over the field -- left and right, up and down.''
Hawaii won 72-45 last season, a humiliating defeat that spoiled BYU's 12-0 start, knocked the Cougars from the Top 10 and eroded the team's claim to a possible Fiesta Bowl appearance.
``I'm glad that one's over,'' BYU coach Gary Crowton said. ``We needed to put this one to bed. There was a lot of hype for this game, and I knew they would come in ready and it was going to be tough.''
The rematch wasn't nearly as lopsided, and the Cougars (2-0) simply pulled away in the third quarter when Hawaii (1-1) stalled offensively. Marcus Whalen ran for 141 yards and two scores for BYU.
