Quarterback Jeff Grady and receiver Bernard Berrian were held out of Fresno State's game against San Diego State on Thursday night because of injuries.
Grady, the successor to David Carr, bruised his ribs during Fresno State's season-opening loss at Wisconsin. Grady practiced with the Bulldogs all week, but the team's medical staff held him out of the game.
Berrian, who caught 85 passes for 1,364 yards and 13 touchdowns last season, sprained his knee at Wisconsin. Though the injury wasn't serious, he didn't practice during the week, and he might not be ready for next week's game at Oregon.
Freshman Paul Pinegar, who has never thrown a pass for the Bulldogs, got the start in place of Grady.
