There was nothing questionable about the performance of Hawaii quarterback Timmy Chang.
Two weeks after fracturing the pinky on his throwing hand, Chang passed for 374 yards and three touchdowns, leading Hawaii to a 61-36 victory over Division I-AA Eastern Illinois in the season opener for both schools.
Chang completed 19-of-30 passes and guided a quick-strike offense that held the ball for less than 22 1/2 minutes. Playing his first game since September 29, 2001, the 6-2 sophomore threw a pair of touchdown passes during a 30-point second quarter.
Chang put the Warriors (1-0) ahead for good, 17-13, with a 13-yard TD toss to Nate Ilaoa. The score came just 32 seconds after Eastern Illinois (0- 1) went in front on an eight-yard touchdown pass from Tony Romo to Will Bumphus.
On Hawaii's next possession, Chang connected with Justin Colbert on a 59-yard scoring strike, stretching the lead to 23-13.
Thero Mitchell carried just four times for the Warriors but scored on runs of one and three yards. Chang's third TD pass, a 19-yarder to Colbert, gave Hawaii a commanding 47-16 lead midway through the third quarter.
Romo nearly kept pace with Chang, going 30-for-53 for 319 yards with four touchdowns and a pair of interceptions. J.R. Taylor carried 21 times for 110 yards and a TD for Eastern Illinois, a Division I-AA power that captured the Ohio Valley Conference title last season.

Bring on BYU!!
Chang should put up similar numbers to Rollovich this year. The Hawai'i offense won't miss a beat.
The defense on the other hand...
