RECAP...

Backup Brian Stallworth, in for
injured All-America Tim Rattay, threw a 28-yard touchdown pass
to Sean Cangelosi with two seconds remaining to give Louisiana
Tech a stunning 29-28 victory over No. 18 Alabama at Legion
Field.

The 6-4 Cangelosi pulled down the winning reception among three
defensive backs in the front right corner of the end zone to
give Louisiana Tech (2-2) its second straight win at Alabama.
Stallworth completed his only two passes for 32 yards after
replacing Rattay.

Cangelosi had career bests with eight receptions and 147 yards.

Rattay threw three touchdown passes before leaving with an
injury in the fourth quarter. He tossed a 49-yard TD pass to
Troy Edwards to lead the Bulldogs to a 26-20 upset of Alabama in
Tuscaloosa on November 1, 1997. Rattay has thrown at least one
touchdown pass in 26 of his 27 career starts.

Shaun Alexander ran for two touchdowns and also had a 76-yard
kickoff return for Alabama (2-1), which had outscored Louisiana
Tech, 103-3, in winning the first three meetings before the loss
two years ago. Alexander rushed 30 times for 173 yards,
surpassing the century mark for the third time this season and
11th time in his career.

Rattay was 27-of-50 for 368 yards with one interception. His
four-yard toss to James Jordan opened the scoring with 8:11 left
in the first quarter and he gave the Bulldogs a 12-3 lead with a
27-yard strike to Cangelosi 4:08 before halftime.

Rattay also tossed a 12-yard TD pass to Jordan that gave
Louisiana Tech a 22-18 advantage 89 seconds into the fourth
quarter.

After a 42-yard field goal by Kevin Pond, Alexander returned the
ensuing kickoff for a score to pull Alabama within 15-10.
Alexander ran 30 yards for a touchdown and Freddie Milons caught
the two-point conversion to put the Crimson Tide ahead, 18-15,
with 2:46 left in the third period.

Alexander's final TD was a 14-yard sprint that gave Alabama a
25-22 advantage with 9:19 to play. Chris Kemp kicked a 32-yard
field to extend the lead to 28-22 with 2:36 left.
