Signing day
How did signing day go for everyone? Any shockers? Who looks like they will make an impact next year? Who are you most excited about? Anything that your team didn't address that they should have?

RE: Signing day
Overall Tech has a good class. Only thing stopping it from being a great class is a QB. We solidified our defense for years to come. Our biggest sign was DE Eric Harper. Our coaches were fighting Texas A&M down to the last minute (staying on the phone with him until the fax was in hand) for him. He is a December grad so he will get to enroll in class in time for spring quarter and start working with the team. Harper became the 3rd 3 star DE we have signed in 2 years (Matt Broha <one time Kentucky commit> and Kwame Jordan <JUCO> were the others).

Immediate impact is Kwame Jordan (DE). We graduated our top pass rusher so we answered by signing an elite Juco pass rusher. I am not going to lie though. Even though Kwame signed in the early period, he was a package deal with Harper (pretty good package). They are best friends and played high school ball together.

Renaldo Melancon (DT: transfer/prop). Doesn't count on this year's class but I thought I would remind you of the 4 star, SEC caliber DT we have playing next year.

Christian Lacey is one of the few guys that has given Ole Miss signee any kind of pass rush pressure over the past 2 years. He isn't as highly rated as Harper but he is another good one that looks like he has the size to come in and play right away.

Also we got a nice defensive tackle. Scout has him as a 3 star and Rivals as the highest 2 star. He supposedly flipped back and forth between us and Tulane.

Darrius Terry was rated as a top 25 corner on Rivals. 2nd year in a row we land a 3 star (and nationally rated) corner.

We managed to have our longtime (and highly rated) QB decommit on Monday. That left us in a bind. We were a finalist for another 3 star QB (final 2) but then he ended up picking Ole Miss over us. So we still have a hole there but we also have a transfer QB from Auburn who can play next season. We will see how that works out (ESPN rated as the number 15 QB out of high school).

RE: Signing day
Overall, Hawaii's class is getting destroyed by the talking heads. ESPN even gave Hawaii's recruiting class a "D".

But...considering that this coaching staff only had 3 weeks to put a class together, I think they did a good job.

I think all of Hawaii's freshmen will red-shirt, so none will likely be impact players this year.

I think one of the two JC QB will likely have an impact on Hawaii this coming season since Tyler Graunke, Hawaii's future starting QB was suspended today for skipping classes.

Other than that, I think Hawaii will have an uphill battle trying to go .500 this year.

RE: Signing day
There is a ULM fan coming on our board trying to talk a lot of noise about how they have a better recruiting class than Hawaii.

RE: Signing day
The ULM fan may be right. I'm still trying to get familiar with a bunch of Hawaii recruits.

Didn't even hear of them until this past week...except for the Hawaii HS players.

The best JC QB in Caly, Kevin Craft, was all set to come to Hawaii, but once Jones left, Craft decided to accept a scholarship from UCLA.

Hawaii also had a ton of Texas recruits ready to sign with us. But again, Jones left...and all the Texas recruits decided to follow him to SMU...along with some Caly recruits.

It was starting to look ugly there for awhile, but Coach Mac ended up pulling in a recruiting class. ...and I'm pretty impressed with some of our recruits. The others, I'm totally unfamiliar with.

It's hard to tell how good or bad this class is, but I know for sure that Hawaii offered some Hawaii kids walk-on invites. Those same kids received scholarships from other D-1a schools
