First off, congrats on your new TV deal. It will be great for non-BCS leagues getting talent on the air!

Secondly, who is going to replace UTEP when they come to CUSA?

Good luck!

Houston is going to replace UTEP, then Rice, SMU and Tulsa are going drop plans to go to CUSA and return to the WAC!

I think he was kidding. Looks like North Texas to replace UTEP if it is indeed Utep to the cusa.

This move is very critical for the WAC and Sun Belt.
If CUSA takes UTEP (looks like a done deal now), Then the WAC will pull in UNT and maybe one or two other Sun Belt schools (not Idaho) to partner with LaTech.

If CUSA takes LaTech, Then the WAC will either stay pat at 8 or add Idaho to make a 9 team conference.

Just my take on what I have heard so far.

Those sounds like pretty reasonable plans.

San Jose State WILL NOT DROP FOOTBALL!

I think UNT may want the WAC to invite 2 other Sun Belt schools to give the WAC a stronger Central Time Zone presence.

I will miss UTEP!

San Jose has a huge Alumni base. I do not see them allowing Spartan FB to drop to D1AA or disolve altogether.

UTEP is staying, La. Tech. is going and both N. Texas and Idaho will become members.

I tend to agree that UTEP will stay. Stull was awfully involved in the new ESPN contract negotiations. Not sure why if they were on their way out. A better TV deal plus more solidarity equals UTEP in the WAC. I for one am glad. If LaTech goes, the WAC should stay at 8 until another Western team is ready for the move up. Idaho is not there yet.

I hope you're right B-Mark. I would really like to see UTEP stay. I would like to see Tech stay as well.

Would you like to put a wager on that? Say a beer at a game? SJ football is on life support. With the budget cuts in CA it's not a good thing for SJ football.

SJ will either drop football or drop down to 1-AA football.
A beer???

How about a Guiness?

You have found my weakness. I don't bet hats or shirts, I like betting beer. Plus the payoff is fun no matter which way the bet goes.

You may have to come to Boise to collect.....

I guess I just don't get it. What teams in CUSA are UTEP fans going to go gagah over? The only teams you have any real history in CUSA are Rice, SMU and Texas and that was pretty short term. Agreed that you had more history with MWC teams but again, that is a western league. I just don't see people in th east-southeast being all that excited about playing a team from the West who has pretty much always been in the west and who they know zip about. The same can be said about LA Tech being added to the WAC but what was done is done. No sense repeating the same bone-headed mistake again.

UTEP wants to recruit and play in Texas alot, and have a more Eastern influence.

It's a bet. But remember the bet is only that SJ will drop football or drop down to 1-AA. There is no time limit on this bet. So I may wait a year or ten years to collect. But I'm pretty sure that I'll collect sooner than later.

04-cheers
Okay....the great thing about betting beer is that you get to at least drink beer when you lose!
