7th in ASUN Thoughts?

I really believe that the coaches feel we will have a hard time replacing Ingle and it is reflected within their rankings. This must be the reason as we have finished in the middle and above in the past with essentially a less experienced team in my eyes. I really feel this ranking overlooks our teams potential and we will most likely finish higher. Any thoughts on Campbell finishing above us? I just don't think they are that great of a team to be honest.

Look at the point drop off after Kennesaw: 71- 49.

Agreed. Losing Ingle hurt, but I can't really blame them for where we are ranked. I know we've brought in some quality players (Mattone, who I think will have the biggest impact this year) but Im not sure they are taking this into account. I would be shocked if we finished below Campbell.. I think we are a better team from top to bottom than 6 teams in our conference (Campbell and everyone ranked below us). I also think we can compete with the schools ranked ahead of us.

I didn't see that point drop, that's pretty substantial. Ingle may have thrown a few votes around though. Jacksonville, this years sleeper supposedly barely scrapes the top 5. Mercer comes in at 3, others must think they're stacked as well.

While I do think you are a better team than campbell, you must realize that one has to earn respect. The past two years you've attained enough respect to be placed in the middle of the pack. In order to reach higher, you must achieve more.

Agreed. Finish above .500 and we'll get noticed.

4 LOSSES! Conference champs! Wooten has all-american season.

This made me pretty mad at first, but we really haven't done anything to deserve much better. All the programs in front of us are pretty solid, except for Campbell. I think we have the potential to really screw up the predictions, but thats only potential if we end up .500 again. Personally, I think we're really going to get some big wins and earn a lot of respect. We have proven that we can play with anybody and hopefully a bigger home court advantage (if all goes according to plan) will put us over the top in some close games. I'm excited about the possibilities of this season. Go Owls!

I think everythings hinges on your 'quarterback'. With your talent, I don't even think you need a dominant PG--you need a solid distributor. If you have that, I could see you being very dangerous. If you do not, I think you'll hit a ceiling.

I think 6th or 7th would be about right. We have the potential to finish top 5 which would mean a winning season, and improvement from last year. Hopefully we will exceed even our own expectations, but it isn't wise to EXPECT much more than what we, or other new DI teams in our position, have proven in the past.

I think we've established our expectations differ. Some (myself included) are gunning for 10-6, and will take whatev else we can get. Others want more. Pretty much explains everyones expectations right there, so no reason to keep coming back to the subject. JMO
