UTEP has officially turned down an opportunity for its football team to appear on national television for only the fourth time in program history.

The Western Athletic Conference and ESPN requested that the school move its Oct. 16 home game against Hawaii to Friday, Oct. 15. But UTEP President Diana Natalicio said this week that won't be done.

"It's our homecoming game," Natalicio said. "If it were any other game, we would entertain that proposal and work with the WAC and ESPN. But it's our 90th anniversary and we have many special events planned. It's not appropriate or realistic to entertain changing those things."

I'm torn about this.. Since the WAC isn't good enough for UTEP anymore, I don't care about them losing airtime, but on the other hand, it'd been good for Hawaii to get another game on TV

Thank you UTEP. All of those Boise fans that wanted Tulsa to move our homecoming game so that Boise could televise a game against who cares-- take note! 03-wink

I think Boise has enough ESPN games this year. Three, not counting the Bowl Game.
But Although I really enjoy the exitement of the ESPN games, I really hate the Friday games....it negatively impacts are tailgating!!!!!!

OH, Cross Boarding references again.

I personally think all the mid-major school are ESPN *******. They will do whatever it takes to get their games televised. It means a lot to all the mid-majors to get the national exposure. Friday games are a small price to pay, but I still don't like them.

Take note! Your jealousy is showing its ugly side! Playing on ESPN would be good for the program, but it is homecoming and UTEP needs to look at the whole package about events that were planned months in advance! :saber:

I think the ONLY person who is obsessed with this Boise State playing Tulsa on a Tuesday game idea was you TUFan. Nobody else was seriously considering it, especially not "all those Boise State fans." It was something that ONE person suggested in passing, and you simply went off the deep end on it. Get a grip, ok?

Boise State will be playing THREE nationally televised Friday night games this year on ESPN. Those three games will be the Boise State vs. Oregon State game, and the Boise State vs. Brigham Young University game and the Boise State vs. Hawaii game. All three of these games are HOME games for Boise State. 04-bow

Additionally, I would not be at all surprised to see ESPN also try to televise the Boise State vs. Fresno State game later on this year, especially if Fresno State and Boise State are both having a good season.

AND, if Boise State plays this season in the newly renamed Micron P.C. Bowl game here in Boise (or possibly some other bowl game), that would make possibly as many as FIVE (of 12) nationally televised football games for Boise State this season. That is waaaaaaaaaaay more than any Boise State could have ever dreamed of in the past. Boise State does not NEED to play a Tuesday night game against Tulsa (or any other school), nor would they ever seriously consider it.

TCU fans are saying they are going to take the Friday night slot that UTEP turned down. TCU @ UAB. The Alabama media are going to have a field day trashing UAB for playing on a friday night.

BoiseState(d)rules-- who stuck the corncob up your ******? Man-- you need to review that thread. It was (and is) more than one person.

Oh yeah-- Bob-- I meant to tell you that Friday night games don't negatively impact tailgating. All one must do is take a mere half day off from work. Anyone can do it. It's not that hard. Four little hours and you too can start the tailgate at noon. 03-wink

Personally, I hope TU always says no to Friday night games. Heck-- I hope they say HELL NO! And while they are at it, they can tell ESPN to shove it up their butts. I'm tired of our schools being their *****.

You had to bring that up? What's next? The wedding plans? Work related stress items? Or better yet-- Kevin's contract options for this upcoming season?

Speaking of contracts-- if anyone knows anything about Roseto, Italy-- besides that Luke Recker played there last season and that it's located in the mountains, approximately 250 km from Rome, I'd love to hear it.

Never been to Rosetto but have spent plenty of time in Italy: Milan, Bergamo, Chinqua Terra,

My favorite place in Europe. Great food, lots of history, good people, the Mediterranean, etc.
