It is now official, the MWC is going with College Sports TV.

<a href='http://www.cougarfan.com/article.asp?ArtID=20109&URL=http://www.desnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,595086830,00.html' target='_blank'>Mountain West turns to College Sports Television</a>

Rumors are that the Pac-10 may try to jump to this station as well. If that did happen, would the WAC follow to give CSTV the western demographic monopoly? The MWC seems to be getting a deal since they won't have to bow to ESPN anymore and have to play a weekday schedule. If they wanted to, the WAC should do something similar to avoid future Tuesday or Wednesday night games.

Anyone know anything about CSTV?

This is a huge gamble on the part of the Goats.

CSTV has nowhere near the market penetration as ESPN, ESPN2 or FoxSports. Even in the markets where it is "available", it's a premium channel that you have to subscribe to (and pay $$$03-wink in order to get it.

Bottom line -- it's a lot of cash, but terrible exposure for the MWC. Maybe that was worth it to them, I dunno.

Of course, CSTV has to stay in business through 2013 for the MWC to get all their money... and CSTV is only 18 months old and going up against established competition.

Way too risky for me. I'd say the WAC would be smart to call up ESPN and pursue the slots that the Goats just gave up.
