Hughes Suspended
Kansas State athletics director Tim Weiser announced Saturday that senior center Tyler Hughes has been indefinitely suspended from the men's basketball team, K-State announced in a prepared statement.

"Until we have fully investigated and know all the facts surrounding the situation. Tyler has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities and we will have no further comment," Weiser said in the statement.

That concluded the official statement, but Hughes' suspension is due to K-State's discovery Saturday that he is listed as a registered sex offender in the state of Kansas. Hughes was added to the Kansas Bureau of Investigations sex offender Web site list on May 25, 2006. Hughes' offense is listed as aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

A source said Coach Bob Huggins' staff and the KSU athletics department knew nothing of Hughes' situation until Saturday, but it is believed that the registration is part of a case that extends back prior to Hughes' arrival at K-State.

Hughes, a 6-foot-11 native of Olathe, Kan., averaged 1.7 points on 62.1 percent shooting (18-of-29) with 2.0 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 0.5 blocks in 7.0 minutes per game last season as a junior. Hughes graduated from Olathe North High School in 2003.

This actually doesn't surprise me at all. I actually played against Tyler Hughes in high school and he was a total jerk back then. And he should definitely be off the team if this is all true.

The sad part is, some ******* some where is right now trying to sp9in this to be Huggs fault. Even though this happened before he got to KSU and was recruited by a different coach. But when Huggs wraps things up and they show a list of transgressions that occured under Huggs, this will be one of them.

sadly, jarr, if Huggins wasn't the coach at K-STATE, they wouldn't even had known about that players past. It would have been kept secret and nobody would have known or cared. Huggins will be in the media's spotlight for many years again and the NCAA committee's will screw K-STATE over just like they always did UC. Get used to it. That's what happens when Programs make the MEDIA'S TO DO list.
