Sterling.. they haven't even played yet and you're already using the fluke excuse?

Gimme's???? No offense Trav but Illinois does not have any gimmees on their schedule, their is not one team in the conference that is not capable of beating them by 3 TD's.

I'm not even going to ask because I know for a fact you haven't even watched them play a down this year. 2 straight top 25 recruiting classes... it's no mistake this team is 3-1. You all rip on Zook so much but when you bring in that much talent, these kids could coach themselves and win some games.

The last two years, Illinois would have found a way to lose to Indiana this week. And the fact that they didn't is reason to get excited about Illini football again.

edit: Penn State and Wisky are now SOLD OUT.

That fan support sure does suck, doesn't it? 03-banghead

Expect half the stadium to be Badger fans.

We'll see about that. I'll be there so I'll be sure to report on the # of fans. I had season tickets for years... every big ten game the visiting section sells out. The only teams that would buy up extra tickets were Michigan (half of them were ganster wanna-be michigan students) and OSU.

RE: The Return of Illinois Football?
The preamture reports here by some fans of the death of Zook's Illini are looking suspect.

Neither are such reports nor are UI wins important to me.

I wish for them no success but will not invest much energy in ridiculing the Illini program or staff either.

BTW: Did anyone else catch the comcast TV ad of late regarding the " FACTS and BT Network" ?
Management seems determined NOT to gouge the viewer to enrich BT.

Beating Wisconsin or Penn State will be a fluke!
They have no consistency.
The last two years NIUBRad and others have predicted ghreat things for the Illness.
3-1 is great, however winning another 3 games is something I will need to see to believe.
It's possible but unlikely.

They'll beat one of Penn State or Michigan. Mark it, write it, count it, whatever.

Ding, ding ding. We have a winner.

I hate to say it, but the Big 10 is absolutely horrific this year. It is nearly impossible to judge Big 10 teams unless it is against a decent out of conference opponent. Admittedly even Wisconsin at number 9 in the nation is nothing too special. This is as weak as I think I've ever seen the Big 10.

I'll agree with that, the Big 10 is pretty bad this season.

I think Illinois will beat Wisconsin next week.

Your just like the guys on The Score... they consider any team NOT in the top 5 a "bad team." In terms of Big Ten standards, yes they are a bit down this year. But they are STILL one of the top 5 conferences in football. Yes, the SEC and Big 12 will dominate in bowl games once again.

OSU is tough as always, Michigan is back on their game, Wisky has lost what?... 3 games in 3 years? Indiana and Illinois have improved dramatically. Speaking of the Hoosiers, the Illini's win over them looks even better as they manhandled Iowa on the road today.

Illinois will go 8-4!

ZOOK FOR COY!!

Some BIG TIME blue chippers were in attendance today! Another top 20 recruiting class is on the way!

What? Arrelious Benn? J Leman? Vontae Davis? They have a lot of good, solid players. Not the big name guys, but they still get the job done.

I said it before, I'll say it again. If McGee becomes the starter, Illinois will win many more games. Remember, they nearly came back to beat Mizzou because of McGee.

With Illinois & Indiana both winning today, it is looking good for a Big 10 team to play in the Motor City Bowl this year.

RE: The Return of Illinois Football?
Penn State is a significantly better football team than America's luckiest and most overrated squad, the Wisconsin Badgers. The fact that Illinois played an absolutely AWFUL game and still won today really should be scary to some of you around here. Penn State has a better QB, WR's, and defense than the Badgers by far as well. Plus, Illinois finally benched (speaking of overrated), Juice Williams today. If McGee gets the job he deserves at QB, and Illinois just plays moderately better than they did today, America's longest winning streak will be over and Illinois will be 5-1.

Illinois had Missouri, who heck with what Oklahoma and Texas did today might be THE best team in the Big 12, all but beaten on a neutral field in the opener only to make a silly mistake and lose in the final minute on 1st down at the 18. Your delusion is mind-boggling.
