He's had some bad plays, but overall he's pretty solid. I would have to give him a break, from what I hear he has played a big role in us landing DJ

This guy could be soooo good too. Why hasnt he learned to turn around when the balls in the air? He always has picture perfect positioning, looking at the wide receiver's eyes, but then he forgets the last part...when u see the receiver position his eyes on the ball coming his way, you whip the hips around and make a play on it...u cant just wait and hope your flailing arms get in the way

RE: Melvin Rice
this is exactly what i was talking about last week when everyone on this board was raving about melvin and the secondary....he never turns and plays the ball EVER which is exactly why we have some many big plays that come on us. melvin is a helluva athlete and a good corner, but he wont be great until he starts playing the ball

I think that this guy is a gamer. He is almost ALWAYS in position to make a play. The problem is he is not turning his head when the ball is in the air. Some of that is also his teammates not yelling "Ball!"

If he ever turns around he would be 1st Team MAC because he would have a ton of picks.

He hasn't learned because the coaches aren't teaching him.

The thread title and opening post say it all, well done. I've never seen anything like him, most guys can't keep up with receivers, but Rice does an amazing job at it, yet never finds the ball. It's ming boggling.

I have never seen him turn around ona ball in the 3 game this year. We're screwed when the recievers are 1 on 1 with our secondary.

No, we are screwed playing a freshman and sophomore at safety - especially when one of them looks like he is lost on every passing down. He is too stupid to play safety in my opinion.

give me a break man, do you honestly think the coaches arent telling him to TURN AROUND! at this level as a CB you should know that...

I don't care who it is, but we need to get some picks. The 2003 squad had 23 picks, almost two per game. Here we are in game for with only 1 turnover, and - picks. A couple turnovers in our favor easily would've won the last two games for us.

It's just unbelievable to me that the guy can cover like a blanket but never turns around. Maybe the only reason he covers so well is his eyes are always on the WR and never the ball. Frustrating to watch. If he learns to turn around at the right time though, he could be a great DB.

Youre right, you SHOULD know that...but if he doesnt...you have to spend time teaching him because it costs us huge plays every game

At least Rice was close to the WR, Pruitt was nowhere close to their WR on a couple long plays.
