It's like this team invents ways to lose.

They found a way to go 7-5 with Garrett Wolfe, Sam Hurd, and Doug Free on the team

That's bad.

DJ comming to NIU has to be the best news in a long time!
He is apparently a popular guy well liked by team mates.
He was screwed by Weiss!
At NIU he will receive a heroes welcome!
Hopefully he will attract a good WR or two.
Can we not get a good JUCO WR??

i would be perfectly happy if we could use our "pipeline" from chicago more effectively wit DJ/Yordon center star power and keep our 3 and 4 stars from going to U of I or other Big Ten out of state options.

He wasn't screwed by Weiss. He just had no chance. With the team they have this year, they might as well start Clausen. He is the future for the team.

NIUbrad- great post, its what i've been thinking all along....Its great what NOvak did for the team, but its time for him to retire to South Carolina or North Carolina..wherever the **** he is going, atleat if he gets out of DeKalb, I'll be happy...His glory days are over....like Flames said, he has to take his hands of his knees and coach a ******* team.

While it may be true that fresh blood at the head coach slot (and certainly all the other MAC coaches are pointing out to recruits that Joe will retire soon), the lack of respect for this man is truly breathtaking here. He has watched younger, less talented coaches go on to other BCS programs and fail miserably while he invested his blood and sweat into NIU. And he had to compete with inferior facilities, a chaotic athletics administration, a lack of money, compete against highly paid coaches, couldn't keep assistants for the lack of money, and with all of that still turned out a winning program the last few years. Your total lack of respect for what he has done for the program is absolutely breathtaking - even if he is totally responsible for the blown coverages and sacks and missed tackles and dropped passes. He deserves better than this.

You know I can understand the frustration right now, but these kind of ridicuous ignorant statements really piss me off

Disagree. On the surface, the comment seems like it's silly and out of frustration. But think about it. WHY WHY WHY are we so conservative and predictable on offense? A high school team could stop this team. We don't have great athletes on offense so MIX IT UP, use some deception. Watch Florida, or God for bid, Appalachian State. Shotgun, triple option, variety, deception, keeping the defense on their heels. Our offense is a complete joke cause Novak won't let Wittke open up the playbook and get us out of 80's. I've got news for you, this is not the days of 3 yards and a cloud of dust and wishbone offenses. For God's sake, GET A PLAYBOOK!!!!!!!!!

I agree 1000% maybe Joe should play some Madden and open his gameplan to the 21st century!!03-nutkick

They didn't find a way to lose with those guys -they were outcoached. They had the most predictable offense in all of college football. The amazing thing to me is that we didn't lose more games. Anyone who watched any game film at all should have been able to figure out that O and D after watching film from two games.

+1. Posters here hide behind screen names and waffle more than politicians.
