UMass to the Big East??
In the 1AA championship The Minutemen almost beat Appalachian state and Appalachian State beat #5 Michigan, so is UMass a good fit for FB only membership??
This conference and all other BCS conferences should follow the ACC and others by going to 12 teams and having a conference championship.
The winners all play ea. other in a playoff system and the highest rated midmajor also and let the champion be decided on the grid iron instead of some stupid computer...

RE: UMass to the Big East??
Who knows what the future holds, but right now UMASS is in 1-AA and competes in a stadium that seats under 20k. They would need a massive upgrade along the lines of what UCONN did, but from what I understand the state of Mass. is highly unlikely to funnel $$$ into UMASS upgrades the way Connecticut did for UCONN. Although they have studied a move to 1-A, they have a long way to go before the Big East would even consider them. And even if they DID make the move to 1-A and upgraded their facilities sufficiently, I'm not sure how UCONN, Rutgers and SU would feel about their addition.

At this point, I would consider it a far-fetched notion at best. Maybe in 20 years.

RE: UMass to the Big East??
Umass to the MAC is more likely at this point. The money needed to join the MAC would be far less and on a competive level UMass would have a far shorter time to catch up and reach a bowl as a member of the MAC. Right now UMass would be at the bottom 1/3 of the Big East at best and needing to catch USF or Cincinnati to get into a bowl slot as a member of the BE. UMass likely would be top half of MAC east division from day 1. This wouldn't be a project like Buffalo. UMass is a good D-AA program and would be not much different that Temple, Buffalo, Akron, Ohio, Miami and Kent State. BGSU would likely move to the MAC west if UMass were to join.

Big East would likely add an established program considering they are a BCS conference.
