SIU President now stands accused of plagiarizing his dissertation.

And at least the current SIU president did not do what NIU's former president Nelson did many years ago.

I never take pleasure in the troubles of others. We will have our own share of trouble to deal with eventually.

Shouldn't have left and covered it up, but at least the injuries were minor. That was stupid.

I worked at the Northern Star at the time of the Nelson hit and run, and it was a Star reporter, Cary Spivak who actually broke the story that helped lead to his arrest by DeKalb police. Nelson was found guilty, and gave up his job as NIU president to William Monat. Spivak went on to a long career as investigative reporter with the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
