RE: Wisconsin game in 2009 not at Huskie Stadium?
Let's use the $1m to stack the DeKalb city council with NIU supporters instead of NIU haters. Then pass the tax increase to funnel $20m to NIU to improve Huskie Stadium. This is how they would do it in Chicago politics, so why not in the Suburbs.

How does NIU generate ALOT more money for athletics?
SIMPLE: Play in SF once each season. Revenue from that one game is like having two seasons in one at Huskie Stadium.
If many seek the big time , we gotta pay the piper to get there. Money talks , the rest walks.
I see no harm in playing Wisky or Iowa again in SF even when visitors account for 40,000 tix sold.
I may WISH FOR & WANT to see the Badgers in DeKalb but I will not be surprised nor disappointed should the game move to SF.
:iagree:
What a great way to sell NIU football, especially in Chicago. The Chicago press might actually have to pay attention to the Huskies
Many schools play all their home games off campus: Temple, Miami-FL, USC, Hawaii, San Diego State, San Jose State, etc. They all seem to be doing okay (well, except Temple).
I am all for putting more big teams on NIUs schedule, and an annual SF game is a good way to do it.
I wonder how many would show up if the NIU-SIU game was at SF?

Seeing NIU getting continually pasted by Big Ten teams is not what I would consider a good way to sell NIU football to the Chicago media. All it does is reinforce the mentality they currently have.

UW better be at Huskie Stadium
Playing at SF would be nice again, but NIU needs to sell more tickets to their fans. It was an embarassing showing by the Huskie faithful. I would like to see an SEC team at SF.
I think you would have seen many more Huiskie fans if the AD did not panic and sell all our allotment to Iowa by buying one season ticket. I talked to a lot of people that would have gone. They should have ordered right away, but we are not that smartof fan base yet.

Is 16-3 getting pasted?
An NIU-SEC game mite be a worse outcome.
We need to schedule BT teams often considered in bottom tier of conference - not the top three or four.

No, we should be thrilled that we lost by 13 points! We only had 1 rushing yard per attempt and gave up over 250 yards rushing. The newspapers just lauded us for our huge moral victory.
Let's play Michigan, Ohio State, or Wisconsin at SF. If we lose by less than 13 points, we'll make huge headlines in the Chicago papers and make even make ESPN SportsCenter.
At any rate, it's a moot discussion because our goal is to make money. So, whomever it is that we play at SF next, just bring them (and all their fans - and their money) on!
P.S. On another note, isn't it funny how our ticket office is so efficient at selling tickets to the opposition fans and yet so inept at selling them to Huskie fans?

No scoring a TD and having all the turnovers is an embarassment - not getting pasted - however Iowa is a middle of the pack Big 11 team this year.

Most have Iowa 4th in the Big 10, but not being able to do much offensively is NOT AT ALL an embarassment. Iowa has one of the top 5 defensive lines in the entire nation and by many are expected to be a Big 10 title contender. In fact the Hukie passing game looked sharp at time vs Iowa which is a really good sign.

Wow - your 2 personalities conflicted each other in your post - "most have Iowa 4th in the Big 10" and "many are expected (Iowa) to be a big 10 contender."
If we can't move the ball at all against aaverage big 10 team it is an embarrasment.
Look what Applachain did, Middle Tennessee, etc - NIU continues to do nothing to regain its 2003 form - yet another year is going by - pretty soon the kids NIU will be recruiting will have been still pissing in their pants back in 2003.

I agree that we should get Wisconsin at Huskie Stadium.....We need as many televised "Big Time" games at the Stadium for prestige which will help recruiting. However, anytime our program can play Big Ten Schools anywhere "IOWA" being one of them, we should jump at the chance. We need not exclude any BCS team. This not only will give us a boost in recruiting players but in the near future a big time / big potential COACH.

Why is a big time game scheduled at Huskie Stadium more impressive to recruits that seeing themselves someday playing in SF?

because it shows that the program can get big teams to come to them. It shows the program does not have to have a gimmick to get a decent team to come and play us.
