Today's ABQ Journal reported that the game will be broadcast in the Navajo language by a NMSU student; this is apparently a first for college football.

It also reported that only 8K tickets had been sold for tonight's game; without a serious walk-up, Aggie Stadium could look empty on national TV tonight.

I will be pulling for an upset Aggies; BTW I thought your band was far better than the UNM band at last week's game. I embarrassed my wife by yelling kudos for the Aggie band in the midst of Lobo Nation . . . LOL!!!!

Go AGGIES!!!!

I hope the Aggies can put at least 25,000 in the seats for CAL. Cal is an amazing team, great offense, fun to watch. CAL would be getting a lot more press if they didn't share the conference with USC.

Try to hold below 70 Aggies!!!!!

So goes the theory that having a big name school at home would draw a huge crowd. I would hope to see 20-25K for these guys and I hope that the Aggies put the hurt on to boot. That would get the fans coming back. This would be a GREAT win for the WAC as well as anyone who hates CAL like me.

I hope Las Cruces fans attend the game, 8,000 sold seats stinks. Here is my pet peeve, neither Cal or Stanford will schedule Nevada home or away for football. Nevada played Cal at Cal several years ago, I think Nevada took 10,000 to the game. Stanford and Cal should play Nevada on a regular basis. The Bay area fans love to come to Reno and Reno will travel to the Bay Area. They need to play teams that are closer, hell, UCD tok 10,000 to Stanford, but after they beat them, expect no future invitations. Same goes for basketball, I doubt Trent Johnson of Stanford will schedule Nevada, but the game would sell out in Nevada.

problem is 2 fold:

1) Our University totally dropped the ball with this opportunity and did very little to take advantage of this situation on a marketing stand point. We will never see Cal here again, and most likely no other bcs team. Further the WAC may have a hard time negotiating the next ESPN deal as long as we are in the conference. 03-banghead

2) We have the fairest of fairweahter fans there are. We have 30k go to highshool football games, because the have winning programs. HIGH SCHOOL....30k, and we cant get half of that for CAL 03-banghead ...

Only thing gonna fix it here is winning, hope it comes soon :(

Ok, hate is a strong word (that's what momma said) but I do hate Cal and Stanford is not far behind. At least Stanford fans are civil. Plus, we beat Stanford 3 straight times when I was in school. When you're from "the state school" (like Cal isn't?) you learn to loathe Cal and Stanford.

I think the Hal Mumme Air Raid got hyped a little too much in Las Cruces and now that the Aggies are 0-3 and have shown approximately zero offensive might, the hometown folks are saying "same old NMSU...". We did have a good crowd for Oregon State a few years ago, but our team was more competitive than they have been this year. Maybe the walkup crowd will surprise us...

I really think NMSU has improved a lot from last year - it's just not showing when we play top teams. Cal will likely crush us, but I think after we get through with them, there is hope. And a lot of hope for the future (as in wait til next year... )

You guys aired it out once against the Lobos and I told my wife that if you guys got that air attack going the Lobos would be in trouble . . . LOL!

I think NMSU has much potential; you will surprise some WAC teams. Hang in there Aggies and good luck against Cal tonight!

i'm watching the game now. a half empty stadium playing a ranked team on national TV doesn't leave a very good impression of our leage. pick it up Newmags.

Yes, it's true that the crowd is way too small, but the Aggies are looking pretty impressive in this game. It is obvious that they are much smaller than Cal, but are very scrappy. I'm impressed by they way they are moving the ball. Idaho was impressive also in their first two games. I think being in the WAC will help those teams and USU improve very quickly. Which will in turn help the WAC.

Go Aggies 04-cheers

Just watching the end of this game. I really see some potential for NMSU on the field. 04-cheers

It is a shame to see the team's "fans" walk out on them like that. The stadium is so empty now that it doesn't look like the player's parents even stuck it out. Sad for them. 05-nono

Agree; the crowd was sparse, but the Aggies showed a lot of potential. I was at the UNM game and this was a much better team tonight. They are coming together; the new QB is going to be very good once he and the receivers get on the same page.

Go Aggies beat the crap out of Tech!!!!

The attedance that was in the paper this morning here had 11,000+ at the game so I guess you had a pretty good walkup then for the game against Cal.

However the current California coach has said more than once that he didn't want to schedule, SJ State, Nevada or Fresno St again because they were a step backward for the program and yes they went to NMSU but they said that was scheduled before Tedford got there.

With Stanford I don't think they want to play Nevada except for baseball.

I don't know if that total includes students since they get in free and it was a pretty good student turnout. In the first quarter I think there was a total of about 17 or 18,000 at the game. It did thin out after halftime and during the 3rd quarter which is terrible because the team was still in the game. We were only down by 2 touchdowns going into the 4th quarter and the fans were already starting to leave. What a shame. I later watched the game on tape and it was very positive for NMSU with one big negative and that was attendance. Especially the crowd thinning out in the 3rd quarter when the team was still in the game.
