RE: NIU CHeerleaders
The Cheerleaders are awesome. They compete and do very well. Cut them some slack for things that are out of their control. Talk to one of them sometime about what they do, and you will understand how impressive they really are. and, again, they compete in cheerleading competitions and do very well. If you want to see them do more at games, then talk to the administration, because they have the ability and are willing to do more.

( I posted this before I read Cheer 65's post. Thanks Cheer 65.)

Ughh! How much would it cost to replace such a thing?

thanx 65.

it's great when fans learn new info while interacting with those in the know who take the interest and time here to consider our many ramblings, especially mine.

I suspect if the field announcer made mention at end of each quarter that 50/50 raffle is a major source of funding for the NIU cheer squad, sales and pots would increase. A short video of a few runway models selling tix & displayed on video board may also prompt more sales.

Here are some pics from Soldier Field as requested.

Regarding the flags...that big one probably ran about $700.

We are hoping to have the calendars ready to begin selling at the homecoming game. We are still looking for a couple of business to sponsor a page. So if you know any businesses/organizations that have $350 they would like to donate in exchange for a page in the NIU cheerleading calendar, send them our way!

Anyway, there is so much potential, but so little actually being done.

My friend was Victor years ago. Victor was a guy who had a lot of spirit! Lately (for qite some time now) Victor has not been all he could be. I agree this should get some attention because it is a huge missed opportunity for NIU.

Mascots have become an integral part of a team's identity and marketing especially local college/pro teams.

Skates is the most visible member of the Chicago Wolves organization and is a reason fans show up at Allstate. DePaul's Blue Demon and NU's Willie the Wildcat are very important parts of their respective program's game day presence and in the community. There should be multiple Victor Huskie's so NIU get's more play at local community events and festivals.

While we're on the subject, could the cheerleaders possibly make their way down to the south end of the stadium once in a while?

South end on the east side or west side? we are a little limited, since they made the teams switch sides, but I will see what we can do.

As for Victor - he actually does do a lot of appearances. There are three scheduled for this weekend in addition to another four already for next week. this is in addition to football, basketball and volleyball games. Just FYI.

I do not envy Victor. After being Victor for a few hours for a Red Riot promo, I will never do that again unless I am outside during the winter haha.

RE: NIU CHeerleaders
so NIU can continue to choose making Victor's alter ego suffer in hot climes or do something to change the head/costume.

In an age of technology and shared info among other such costumed mascots , tell me there is no reasonable/inexpensive/appropriate fix.

Change is oftetimes never easily.

If there is a will - there is a way to fix Victor....and please don't suggest neutering.

BTW: I remain unconvinced that Diesel is 100% Huskie. Study his face, ears and texture of his coat closely.

I see part collie or a similar breed in his bloodlines.

Maybe this is why we were 7-6 last season & not 9- 4. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just joking.

West side. We sit in section B, which is designated as a family section (lots of young kids) and we rarely see the cheerleaders or Victor E.

I'll second that, Im in B also and rarely do the cheerleaders make it past about the north 40 yard line.

West side south is difficult...it is the designated area for visiting cheerleaders....I'll see what we can do.

Diesel's heritage...now there is a good question. Since Diesel was a rescue dog, it is really hard to say. However his original registration papers actaully say that he is siberian - however the vet thinks that he is part Malamute, part siberian. his groomer is a siberian breader, and says that she thinks he is pure siberian, he is just the double-coated long hair variety. We don't really care what his heritage is as long as he doesn't take out anymore cheerleaders on the field (ha ha). Besides, he is cute to look at...just like my team of runway models!

:iagree:

I wasn't going to say anything, but the cheerleaders are dramatically more attractive that they were 10 years ago. Of course I am referring to the male ones too.03-lmfao

About 10 yrs ago unless I was dreaming, I remember that the Cheerleaders each took a turn at each of the four corners of the stadium.
Can anybody back me up on this?

RE: NIU CHeerleaders
You are correct. each quarter the cheerleaders would change sections. Football at Northern was a lot "different" then...thus the cheerleaders could pretty much do whatever they wanted (within reason). Since that time, there are NCAA regulations that cheerleaders have to follow, and the football team is winning games - we like to make sure we stay out of their way.

We did, however get permission to move around the stadium as necessary, so we should see you all over on the south side!
