Whom should we bring to Infocision?
This thread was started on Zipsnation but I'm getting an error screen every time I try to post there so I'm putting it here...and maybe some MAC brethren have some suggestions/input as well. Basic premise being with the new stadium we should be able to attract some bigger-name opponents to Akron and maybe have to travel a bit less.
My choices:
Big East: Cinci, L'ville, WV, Pitt, UConn, Syracuse, USF
(Try for 1-1's but 2-1's OK)
(top priority, gettable & upsettable)
CUSA: Memphis, Marshall, ECU, Tulane, UAB
(1 for 1)
Big Ten: Indiana, Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, Mich. St.
(2 for 1)
ACC: Va Tech, NC, Wake, Clemson, USC, Ga. Tech, Boston College, Duke
(2-1 except Duke 1-1)
SunBelt: MTSU, Troy, N. Texas
(1 for 2)
1-AA: WKU, Butler, JMU, App. St., UMass., any Ivy League, URI, Maine, N. Iowa, S. Ill., Dayton, Xavier
(home only)
Others: Kentucky, Army/Navy/Air Force, Boise, Iowa St., Oklahoma St., Colorado State, Ole Miss, Missouri, Wyoming
(1-1)
No Thanks: YSU, Rice, Houston, Ark St., Ill. St., Louisiana Lafayette/Monroe, Kansas
Note: With an improved attendance/revenue situation at home I expect we would replace at least one road game per season with a home game and some of those will be 1-AA's. Figure on starting each season with an easier opponent at home instead of going on the road to the B10, SEC or Nebraska. Try to schedule 1-AA's that have good basketball and try to work a deal for a hoops game as well. Soccer/football double-headers would be cool & maybe bring a few more visitors.
