Nevada loses their starting center
He's out for seven weeks and will miss Nevada's first two games (at the very least). He being Nevada's most experienced offensive lineman, Dominic Green, and a 2nd Team All-WAC offensive lineman last season. Here's the story found on ESPN yesterday:

That's it. Nevada's season is over. You can all forget the pistol and chalk up a W.
JK! Actually, I don't see it as a big deal. It's routine stuff that every team has to deal with. The injury occurred two weeks ago, so he certainly should be back before WAC play starts. In the meantime, Nevada's unlikely to win at Nebraska (maybe the Huskers will overlook them now ), and they better not lose to Nicholls St, regardless, so the only game where it might matter is Northwestern.
Another way to look at it...two years ago, Nevada had two centers go down to injury and Green moved over from guard as their third option...and the Pack went on to earn a share of the conference title. IMO, Nevada will be fine.

Of course you are correct here. This sort of thing happens every year to a lot of teams. Boise State lost their projected starter at the Right Guard spot last season (Pete Cavender) and they seemed to do okay regardless of that loss.
But what appears to me, as an outsider looking in, as being particularly important to Nevada in this case is the fact that Green was Nevada's most exerienced offensive lineman coming back this season. That has to hurt more so than most injuries like this to O-linemen.

Tough break for Nevada. How's the new center looking?

Kyle Robertson is a SR who played in 9 games last year, with 2 starts. And Green will be back for UNLV. No worries.

It won't matter much. This years UNR team will rely largely on their defense.
What they get from the offense is gravy.

Personally, I'm still not too concerned. 1) Nevada has more depth on the OL than they've had in a while...maybe ever; 2) There's still a few weeks until the opener; 3) Nevada's been through this storm before. Nonetheless, not good.
LINK: Down to #3...yet again?

Isn't Robertson the one who took a swing at the O-Line coach. What is the latest on that situation? It would be unfortunate if the _Pack lost another O-Line guy.

Robertson has been kicked off the team.

And rightfully so...
Ault announced today that Kyle Robertson has in fact been dismissed from the team.
Say what you want about Ault, but the man is a disciplinarian. Even though the Pack is already down one center, he still had the fortitude to remove the second string player for attacking a coach. Although this means the Pack will be starting a third string center with a QB with very limited experience all the while running the Pistol offense against Nebraska, the message here is that no one player is bigger than the team.
Maybe he can find a job with Reggie Theus, since that guy seems to like players who take swings at coaches...

That is unfortunate, but predictable. You can't allow that sort of behavior. It is good to see Ault stuck to his guns.
I have predicted UNR to be top-3 in the WAC this year...I'm starting to worry a little bit about the offense.
