What kind of b-ball team do you think we'll have this year?
It seems like we only have 3 big guys who will get major minutes (Matthews, Dobbins, and Bowdry), while we have a plethora of guards and wings who are ready to play MAC ball (Bunkley, Medlock, Lewis, Farrow, Axon (my love for axon might be irrational), Cooper (maybe)). Does anyone see us going with more of a smaller running team at times? Would Ramsey go along with a full-out running game, especially if two of the bigs are sitting at once?

Also, do we expect major contributions from Cooper, Dodd, and Gay? It's tough to guage their role on this team. Obviously it's too early to know any of this, but i'm just excited about the season, and really excited that i came back from my vacation to see 7-8 basketball threads.

No, i haven't seen any scrimmages. This is all just uninformed speculation based on who played last year and what folks have said about Cooper and Farrow.

Aaron,

This is just an opinion, I would expect Gay to see more minutes in the rotation and see Bunkley move down to forward. Cooper has to put on more strength to play down below and he's not there yet. Dodd yes he has the potential but like Rock said really needs to put on more strength and weight. I think we're all forgetting Banjanin who will also see more mintues. For what it could look like take a look at the U of M tournament last year. Dodd's minutes could depend on how Matthews handles this year and as we know anything could happen with James.
This is not a knock under the definition of persistence there would be two names: James Matthews and Pierre Walker from our football team.

THE COACHING STAFF WILL HAVE SOME DIFFICULT DECISIONS IN REGARDS TO PT. LOT OF DEPTH ON THIS YEAR'S TEAM, ESPECIALLY AT THE WING POSITIONS.

I SEEN LAST NIGHTS SCRIMAGES AND WAS IMPRESSED WITH FARRIS (1ST TIME HE'S PLAYED WITH THE GUYS THIS SUMMER - HE WAS DILIGENTLY PURSUING HIS ACADEMICS SUCCESSFULLY I MIGHT ADD). WHILE SOMEWHAT OUT OF SHAPE, HE STLL IMPRESSED M WITH HIS COURT PRESENCE - CAB DO A LOT OF THINGS), A NUMBER OF OTHERS HAVE STEPPED UP IN MY OPINION. BOWDRY IS A BEAST ON THE BOARDS AND PLAYS AWFULLY HARD. SEEN MEDLOCK AND DOBBINS (THEY DIDN'T PLAY BUT WILL BE FINE IN A FEW WEEKS.)

Dennis, that depth at wing is what makes me think a smaller lineup is likely. I wasn't aware that dobbins is still hurt. hopefully the injury doesn't affect him long-term.

thanks for the insight, Dennis. it's always appreciated. And...it's always good to see the same few guys sniffing around other websites for EMU information.

We all know what Medlocks injury was/is What is wrong with Dobbins? Wasn't he injured last season also? Is he injury prone? Will Medlock be able to practice/play soon?

MEDLOCK IS DUE TO START PLAYING SEPTEMBER 15TH. HE TOLD ME HE WAS FINE! DOBBINS INJURY ISN'T THAT SERIOUS I DON'T BELIEVE, YES HE MISSED THE BEGINNING OF LAST SEASON WITH A STRESS FRACTURE OF HIS FOOT AS I RECALL) HE HAD A BOOT ON HIS FOOT A FEW WEEKS BACK, NO BOOT THIS PAST SUNDAY AND HE WAS SHOOTING SOME HOOPS BUT NOT SCRIMMAGING. HE SHOULD BE BACK SOON.

NOW I SEEN MATTHEWS A FEW WEEKS BACK BUT HE WAS NOT THERE THIS SUNDAY, THE ONLY ONE MISSING TO MY KNOWLEDGE. I DON'T BELIEVE FORD IS BACK - LEWIS WAS THERE BHUT DID NOT PARTICIPATE - OBVIOUCLY HE IS PRACTICING WITH THE FB TEAM.

The talk on M-Dead is that Skipper is done due to a heart condition.
