One more---ND to play in new Cowboys Stadium (2012)
Irish expected to play Baylor in Arlington in 2012
By WENDELL BARNHOUSE

When Baylor faces Notre Dame in 2012, the game more than likely will be played at the Dallas Cowboys' new stadium in Arlington.

Sources said Wednesday that Notre Dame and the Cowboys have exchanged documents regarding the Oct. 6, 2012, game played at the NFL facility.

Notre Dame is the home team in the one-game contract with Baylor. Notre Dame is expected to make an announcement about playing the game in Arlington in the next few days.

A year ago, Notre Dame announced it wanted to start playing one of its seven home games at neutral sites around the country.

Recently, Notre Dame announced it would play Washington State at San Antonio's Alamodome on Oct. 31, 2009. Notre Dame, one of three Division I-A independents, also plans to play an opponent to be determined in Orlando's Citrus Bowl in 2011 and 2014.

Notre Dame should play all their games in California. It would be the perfect place for them. And it's far better than any place in the midwest - even South Bend. 05-stirthepot

Terry, wasn't there an issue re: the Big 12 TV contract regarding neutral site games within Big 12 viewing areas falling under the rule of the Big 12 TV contract?

Although there was the Army-Texas A&M game, an Army home game in San Antonio, televised on ESPN2 which isn't part of the Big 12 TV contract.

Outside of recruiting, I don't get the ND push in Texas. Not sure there's a huge built-in Catholic following like there is in the NE and Midwest. The vast majority of Catholic Texans are likely of Mexican descent. Do they have any interest in Irish football?

I live in Plano, TX just north of Dallas in the Metroplex. There are a lot of folks down here from Michigan and the Chicagoland area. Many are Catholic and they are raising their children here. Many are Notre Dame fans and those kids are playing football as they grow up. It makes sense for the Irish; long term recruiting wise.

Well, I am from Pittsburgh and live in Louisiana but root for ND and not LSU. (I graduated from LSU Law School). I am a third generation Irish fan.

My 3 kids (including a son who currently attends LSU) all root for ND even though they grew up in Baton Rouge.

I assume there are a lot of refugees like me down here in Texas as well.

Kevin White is apparently counting on people like me to attend these games (besides all the folks who will fly in from all over the country).

I plan to definitely be at the San Antonio game and probably will be at the one in Dallas.
