RE: MLB All Star Game
What's amazing is that this rally started with 2 outs and nobody on.

Why the hell didn't LaRussa used Pujols? Makes NO sense.

I was surprised that he didn't pull Lee for Pujols, I'm happy he didn't though, no one has a better eye than D Lee

Young got the loss, maybe if Zambrano would have beat him in that 3 run HR might not have happened

RE: MLB All Star Game
Are we sure that LaRussa wasn't drunk during the game?
Absolutely ridiculous how he didn't PH Pujols for Hudson and Rowand, and even Lee. Luckily, it worked out for Lee and Hudson as they were able to take advantage of a wild reliever, but I don't know how you can leave Fire & Passion in there instead of one of the best hitters in the game. LaRussa is an ass.

RE: MLB All Star Game
there was no 3 run HR and the Ichiro homerun wasn't a homerun if it wasn't for an "innovative" outfield design
also, if i moved to another country and didn't have to learn it, i wouldn't either. english is hard as hell to learn and 95% of foreign athletes make complete fools of themselves if they try to speak english for the press.

RE: MLB All Star Game
obviously larussa knows something we don't...pujols must not have been feeling well. maybe he's been sore/hurt, in which case he should have let someone else have his roster spot, but i'm sure larussa thought about putting pujols in more than once...and something stopped him from doing it.

The only reason I can think of why Larussa didn't pinch hit with Albert...is he didnt' want to "disrespect" any of the other players...after all each one of the hitters were "All Stars."
From taking a quick look at the Box Score it appears the only players that Larussa pinch hit for were pitchers.... I'm not saying it was the right decision, with Albert probably being the premiere hitter in the NL over the last few seasonas, but I can see this line of thinking.

RE: MLB All Star Game
If Tony puts in Pujols and he makes the last out, everyone is gonna rip on him for "playing favorites" or some **** like that. TLR was just trying to keep any controversy out of the game.
Plus... you guys are baseball fans you should know this... since the tie in 2002 each teams ALWAYS holds one player back just in case it goes to extra innings and a player would have to come out. Pujols was the designated guy for this because, as TLR explained, his versatility made it possible for him to play ANY position.. 1st, 3rd, left, right.. he even played SS and 2nd base in Spring Training.
I understand why Pujols is upset, but I also understand La Russa's thinking on this one.

No surprise that the AL won. Our lineup was ridiculously good and most of your good pitching will be found in the AL anyway.

The best option would have been to put Sori in center and Pujols in left if he pinch hit for Rowand. If he pinch hit for Hudson, Sori goes to second and Pujols in left. If LaRussa is that worried about playing other teams' players out of position, why not put Pujols in center? Before the game LaRussa said he could play anywhere.
Whats the point of saving a guy for extras if you're not even gonna get there? Its like TLR was trying to throw the game. One XBH would have won it for the NL. Hopefully this causes some conflict in the Cardinal Cluhouse and they fall flat on their faces in the 2nd half. I mean come on. You're going to have Orlando Hudson or Aaron Rowand hit instead one of the best hitters in the majors the last 5 years?
