Interesting how the Braves are top 3 but their attendance figures, for the most part, suck.

My Yankees are both the most & least favorite team.

It surprises me Repubs opt for Ted Turner and Dems for Steinbrenner.

I would expect the reverse.

The Braves are a national team because of a lot of their games being on national TV on TBS, but that all ends after this year.

I really doubt many people take into consideration the political leanings of the owners Cybes. You think some Liberal is at Lids checking out a new hat, thinking to himself.. "well ya Know I do really, really like this hat but that damn Steinbrenner wants to ban gay marriage; better not buy it."

I could care less who Reinsdorf vote's for as long as he keeps our payroll in the top 10 and wins the world series more often then the other team in Chicago.

Because New York (especially its urban areas) is a blue state and Georgia is a red state. The last time a Democrat carried Georgia in the electoral college was in 1980 http://fisher.lib.virginia.edu/collectio...1980ec.gif . Jimmy Carter only carried 3 states - and he's FROM Georgia.

The last time a republican carried New York in the electoral college was in 1984 http://fisher.lib.virginia.edu/collectio...s/1984.gif . Walter Mondale only carried 1 state (Minnesota).

Wasn't the suvery nationwide rather than only in NY/east coast or GA/south electoral region ?

That would partially trump your NY/GA explanation.

East coast more liberal and therefore should be more likely Yankee fans and south more conservative and therefore more likely Braves fans .

What about the remaining regions in the sample especially since repubs & bush won last two presidential elections & won electoral college, then Braves should be most favorite team in MLB. Tell me many conservatives who are baseball fans do NOT associate Braves with Turner Network and Jane Fonda?
