Toledo Arena Renovation
$30 million renovation starts after this coming season and will be ready for the 2008-09 season. Lots of premium seating, loges, hall of fame, pro shop etc.

That is really great to see, thanks for sharing!

Akron couldn't accomplish a renovation of that nature, we would have to tear down the JAR and start from scratch!

Same here, I have heard rumors that we were appoached about a convocation center right around the same time planning was being done about the JAR, What a mistake!

I hope after the football stadium is built plans can begin in regards to building a new arena for Zips Basketball!

Actually, the JAR was suppose to be a convocation center with 12,000 theatre type seats...handball and raquetball courts...classrooms...then the State pulled some funding and we ended up with a big high school gym.

Have they assigned Phoenix remodeling to do this job? This is a heck of task and only some recognized company should be given this huge responsibility.

Cool stuff!

I have heard rumors all over the place about the JAR being renovated. It's probably on hold until we find a new athletic director who can raise the money.

RE: Toledo Arena Renovation
The latest buzz is a new arena across from Canal Park in partnership with the city (since the football stadium has tapped us out) and a minor league hockey team.

But congrats to Toledo on the $30M renovation. MAC facilities are taking a huge step up with Akron's stadium & fieldhouse, Toledo/BG/NIU hoops and indoor practice facilities planned at several other schools (Miami, OU, Buffalo...) There are probably a lot of projects planned that I'm not even aware of; in fact I think I'll start a facilities list thread on the main MAC forum.
