RE: Future of C-USA
Boise and Nevada would be higher on the MWC list than any CUSA team...and from the UTEP fans that I've talked to, the feeling is mutual.

I've heard rumors of LT wanting to join the sunbelt and the rest of the wac merging with the big sky conference.

RE: Future of C-USA
Any C-USA school would love to be a part of a BCS conference but it is all wishful thinking. I am happy with our conference alignment and relish the fact that we do "more with less" than many of our counterparts such as Baylor, OM, Ms State, Iowa State, etc.

I am proud to be a Golden Eagle and a member of C-USA!

Fresno St. Alum Wrote:Green Miss, then why is TCU in the MWC instead of the C-USA. It doesn't make sense to me. All the Texas schools in the CUSA instead of having to fly to Rocky Mts. TCU took Fresno's spot.

Good question. Nobody at TCU will admit it, but they're probably asking the same question in their athletic department (if we're to believe Memphis people). That said, with the bad blood, I'm not sure we'd take them back IF we lost a school otherwise.

North Texas and Louisiana Tech have both received consideration for C-USA membership before. Based on what I've read, though, North Texas was more well-liked by the expansion committee than La Tech due to factors such as facilities and market size (Dallas area).

I could see FAU and MTSU becoming C-USA members one day. Both of these schools are either planning to construct or already have decent athletic facilities.

I like Troy, but what television market do they deliver? Troy, Alabama isn't exactly a big town. I know it wasn't all that long ago that they got a new football stadium. What else do they have going for them?

TCU didn't take Fresno's spot. If the MWC wanted Fresno, they would have ask you and not TCU.

You wanna know something, UTEP is ahead of Fresno now in getting an Invite. The Conf. pecking order to get a spot would be, CUSA-WAC-SunBelt for the MWC bid.

UTEP isn't ahead of Fresno you have no basis for your statment. Fresno St. was told when the MWC started if they dropped Tark we would get in. We said no because we wanted the Save Mart Center which Tarks boosters were behind now we're stuck in the WAC.

So you saying C-USA is inferior to the MWC? that UTEP would want to leave for MWC?

UCF, Tory would get in based on talent more than tv market. Its just rumors that some guy TexasTerror said is being tossed around. He breaks all kinds of movement and who's head where news said was being considered.

He was the first to find out about Texas St. looking to go I-A and about UTSA starting football in 2010. He has some contacts.

Troy would never get in unless the BE took UAB. with their horrible academic ranking and their more horrible locale,Troy is out. Ark. ST makes geographic sense but they need to put more $$ in athletics.

What does TV market have to do with Troy anyway? I have no dog in this fight but Troy,AL is not all that different from the towns where all the SEC teams are located. And there are similar examples all over the country. And there are programs in huge TV markets not drawing flies.
This TV market thing is the most over hyped/misunderstood part of college athletic discussions.

Tulane is probably the most shaky of the schools, and the NCAA is giving them some reprieve to try and rebuild the program. Even if Tulane dropped, it would only be a one-school conference shift, no chain reaction to a major shuffle.

How do you come to the conclusion that Tulane is shaky?

tulane has made the right moves post katrina from what i see and seems stable enough. in my mind, the only questions long term that tulane faces are the same questions that entire region faces.

Hallelujah, Praise the Lord.

I have always wanted to be in a conference with Troy, FAU, and MTSU. It'll be the highlight of my life.

By the way, I just heard that the ACC has merged with the PAC-10 & the English Premier League effective immediately. $10 bucks says that Duke get's relegated the first season.

Hey, also head today that Elvis is still alive and weighs about 750 pounds.

I also heard that Ricky Willams does not smoke dope and never has.

Any school considering leaving C-USA for a non-BCS conference is a bad idea. C-USA already has six bowl bids, and the best non-BCS television contract. If anyone leaves, it will be to move to a BCS conference.

If anyone is stupid enough to leave for a non-BCS conference, I say let them go.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Katrina or no Katrina Tulane's leadership was seriously considering de-emphasis of college athletics - football specifically I think - before that storm ever appeared. A big rebuttal uproar stopped(slowed?) that talk and then the storm overwhelmed everything.
But what led to that initial thought process - funding issues/poor attendance - is still out there.

I agree about CUSA, if, Louisville had not joined the Big East, we would never have left CUSA for another non-BCS conference.

Unless you're a flagship school the T.V market makes a big difference. The Big East clearly went after T.V markets in their expansion move. The C-USA gets more T.V revenue and exposure because of our T.V markets than any other Non-BCS League. It makes a BIG difference.

Troy might be a candidate in 5 years, but they will have to bring big things to the table. Like facilities, attendance, and sunbelt championships. What is Troy's athletic budget? Probably 1/3 of UCF's.
