definitely not. he rarely hit 94. i'll say this for him though, he's extremely polished for a 21 yr old.

RE: So i watched Homer pitch tonight...
I think Bailey averages about 110 pitches per outing, and has made it to the 7th inning only once in his last 10 starts.
Was a little disappointed in his curve. Was looking for the 12-6 bender, but he hung just about all of them he threw.
Waited a long time for this guy to get here. I hope they keep his pitch count down and keep his arm from turning into a noodle. The crowd loves this guy and he could pump some life into the team and the fans.

i don't think he throws a 12-6 curve. i think i only saw sliders.

I've never heard of Homer throwing a slider. Baseball America says "his curveball is also a plus pitch. He can throw a 12-to-6 hammer or a slower, loopier version with a 11-to-5 break."

those pitches sure looked like sliders to me. i didn't see more than one pitch that looked like a curveball. Plus, i've never seen a curveball that tight before.

I'm assuming the "tight" curveball you are describing is his 12-6 hammer. His breaking pitches were clocked in the 78-80 range so that could have been his power curve. You could be right though, as I didn't get to see him pitch last night. Just going off of what I heard from a few friends.

that was not a 12-6 breaker. cain's ugly curve is 12-6. homer's pitch was way too tight to be a curve.

I've heard that Homer has a wicked curveball. Jeff Brantley was talking about it on the radio, as was Marty Brenneman.

RE: So i watched Homer pitch tonight...
i think i've figured it out. during the game on friday the announcers were talking about how homer makes up a lot of his grips, meaning that they aren't traditional. His changeup grip is self taught, which means his curve is probably self taught. Since the grip probably isn't traditional, the pitch wouldn't be either. I mean, if you guys had watched the game on tv you would know that he definitely doesn't throw a traditional 12-6 curve.

i'm watching homer's start from earlier today and i just saw the 73 mph 12-6 curvebal you guys were talking about. It's a really nice pitch. I'm confused as to why he didn't throw it in his 1st start. Another thing that bothers me is, all the scouts said he has mid 90's heat, but once again he working in the low 90's. he has hit 94 a handful of times though.

Maybe he is having some issues with his mechanics. His command has been awful in the majors. Once again retard Narron leaves Homer in too long and that skewed his overall numbers (along with Josh Hamilton's pathetic performance in center field).

wow, if that's bad command, i don't wanna know what's wrong with lincecum. I think bailey's command is awesome. Sure, sometimes he completely loses control, but the command is nasty.
