Your defense will be potent but so will ours, I think we have a slight edge in the offensive department. I think you guys are a lot better than 4th in the East. There is always parity in our league so you just never know. Greenville will be tough environment as always.

We also fumbled crossing the goaline early in the season in the closing seconds to giftwrap a game at UAB.

Exactly. ECU had a far superior team to both USM and UCF this past season, so I don't know what the f@%^ these guys are talking about.

While we did beat both USM and UCF at their houses, saying that we were far superior maybe stretching it just a little. Both games were close and came down to great defensive plays in the waning moments (or overtime).

Southern Miss has the most talent this season and should be the favorite.

It's that crazy schedule you've got. With a couple of bad breaks, you guys could be staring 0-5 right in the face.

UCF will make some serious noise over the next 5 years in the C-USA. Our recruiting class was ranked #1 in the C-USA by a bunch of mags. Our recruiting class for next year has the most number of the rivals top 250 players considering UCF over any other C-USA school. We have two in the top 100 considering UCF.

Southern Miss is the team to beat this year, but UCF will be closing ground soon.

Here is a recent recruit that will make the all C-USA team in a few years.

So the way to "grow a pair" is to make asinine, idiotic, & totally false statements on an internet message board? Maybe you should try to find some reality.

The talent I'm referring to

starting WR http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=47&p=8&c=1&nid=1452951

starting LB http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=47&p=8&c=1&nid=804501

starting DL http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=47&p=8&c=1&nid=788328

more DL http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=47&p=8&c=1&nid=983592

more DL http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=78&p=8&c=1&nid=875623

a new TE who will come in as a JR from Illinois http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=169&p=8&c=1&nid=814421

All of this talent will be on the field this year as Sophomores and Juniors. Bryant (the WR) and Hands (the DE) were both **** by rivals.

What I am saying is the gloves are off now. Holtz is recruiting the way it has to be done at the moment. He is signing top local talent, JUCOs with NC connections, a few non qualifers here and there (that are never factored into our recruiting rating) and getting transfers like Kraemer and Mitchell.

We have other guys too that are talented, these are just the ones the gurus really coveted. There is BCS talent all over the field now, I wouldn't have said that a couple of years ago. I would have said 3 years ago we had one or two legit D-1A DL's. Now we have 10.

WOW, where do I begin? First, no football team in the history of CUSA has ever been given a Football Championship. Be it a Conference Championship or a Division Championship, wrapped or unwrapped. Every team that has one, earned it.
Now Hummell, sit down for a minute, because the next two things I tell you may shock you.
1) No one in the conference front office told ECU last year that in order to win the East Division Title, all you had to do was beat UCF and USM. ECU played by the same rules as everybody else. In order to win the East Division Title, you must win more conference games than any other East Division team. In the event of a tie, refer to the tiebreakers.
2) The East Division Title Race did not end the night your Pirates walked out of the Rock with a overtime win. Just a little tidbit you may have overlooked.

If saying ECU kept ECU out of the Championship Game makes you feel better, great. ECU failed to make the Conference Championship because ECU failed to beat Rice. I don't care if Rice converted a 4th down and forever times two. Rice did what they had to do to win the game and ECU failed to stop them.

Scoreboard. Nice beatin ya. In fact, it was nice to beat every team in the east besides UAB (fumbled the ball going into the endzone for the win)...

That is a bold statement when you really don't know what teams will be like in two years. No one knows if Mike Greco will be the stud QB for UCF, or if Weatherford is better than his big brother at FSU. I believe that UCF will be solid this year, but next year, UCF will finally be fully recruited with depth at every position.

Quote:will have one of, if not THE best offensive backfields in the nation. There's not a team in CUSA that will be able to stop our running game. If you look back at when we're our best, it's when we dominate the ground game. I look for USM to chalk up another undefeated CUSA season fairly easily.

Maybe, if he your ex-con running back stays out of jail.

The player you are referring to will be third string next year behind the two sophomores that had no trouble running all over C-USA as true freshmen. For the ECU fan that said they'd stop our running game, Florida only held Fletcher to 89 yards in the opening game last year, his first ever in college, and he didn't even start that game. Your D isn't going to scare him.

Seeing as how it was a gift wrapped game, that only seems fair. Now back to your regularly scheduled beating.

Please, Luckyshot. Your OC called a stupid play on 1st and 10 and your QB got picked. You got beat, at home, by the Pirates.

Looking forward to smacking your guys in the mouth again this year in Pirate Country.

As was mentioned before, one of your WRs fumbled the ball and they called it incomplete or it never would've gotten there. Our loss to ECU was as pitiful as your losses to UAB and Rice. At least we only choked once!

Honestly though, I couldn't care less if last year's fluke win excites you that much. I used to respect ECU, but years of ECU never doing anything and yet still having to hear silly stuff like this has cured me of that. The truth is that you've been in C-USA since it's second year (and we beat you the first year of C-USA, before you joined up) and have never done better than a few 2nd place finishes. You haven't even been a quality rival. One win doesn't impress us. I think ECU will fight it out with Marshall and UCF for 2nd in the Division this season (which is a good accomplishment for ECU). Honestly, what has ECU ever done to make them think they can win a division, much less the conference, in football? Marshall can claim years of dominating the MAC and UCF has won the division already. I honestly think UAB will pull it off before ECU will. NExt year in the East will be all USM though.

It wasn't a fumble, it was clearly an incomplete pass. NEXT!

Furthermore, the initial question was "when will someone win the east besides S. Miss?" My answer was we beat everyone in the east besides UAB, including S.Miss at home. We were the better team, so the question is silly. You got a lot of help from the Pirates. You know damn well you were on your knees praying to God for us to lose so you could get in. Admit it. We handed you the Eastern Division crown. Like it or not, that's the way it happened.

taking 2 steps doesn't count as incomplete

I was in the upper deck of The Rock and everybody around me knew it was a fumble

but its hard to win when your starting running back is recovering from a surgery the week before and your starting QB has turf toe (and conservative 2 yard pass syndrome) and the backup is nursing a high ankle sprain

We won the East, ECU didn't, good luck in Greenville next year, should be a great game

With our injuries, ECU had as good a team as we did that day. For the season, we were much better, as our record showed.

What, a 4-star running back that chose USM over Rutgers and UNC? I'll take that any day. Not to mention the fact that he was never prosecuted for a crime.
