You, as a Maryland fan, have no room to talk about players in the NBA.

Who exactly are the highly touted Maryland players who didn't make it in the NBA? I suppose Joe Smith's career hasn't been spectacular. But I can't think of too many others who have not lived up to big expectations.
On the other hand, duke players enter college with serious hype. All ranked in the top 20 usually. They then spend their college careers being hyped as future nba all stars. Then they tend to spend their nba careers riding the pine between injuries.

Nothing about NBA busts from Maryland, yet. They haven't had enough superstars with hype to be "eligible" for bust-status. Stevie Franchise is the only player in the NBA (from MD) that I would worry about when playing that team. Even in history, MD doesn't have a great track record. I don't know about Lucas, but Bias died before he could do anything, and no one else really made an impact, that I can think of. If I'm wrong, please correct me, but here is a list of what I consider "good/great" NBA players.
Duke has/had:
Elton Brand
Grant Hill
Shane Battier
Corey Maggette
Christian Laettner (all star)
Johnny Dawkins
Mike Gminski
Jay Williams *
Carlos Boozer *
Maryland has/had:
Steve Francis
Joe Smith
John Lucas?
Tony Massenburg (maybe)
Juan Dixon *
* - denotes above average summer league play

I notice you conveniently left off lonny baxter & Chris Wilcox. Baxter is playing very well in the summer games. If you're going to mention Boozer, you've got to mention Baxter. You also forgot Buck Williams, Len Elmore, Albert King, Tom McMillen, Walt Williams. Buck's NBA career outshines any of the duke players mentioned in this thread.
None of the players under gary came with the hype that these duke players come with. Evers burns played in the NBA for the love of god!
Coach K, takes the best players in the country & manages to turn 1 in 10 into fairly decent nba players. Props all around! Nate James, Casey Sanders, Boozer, Langdon, Hurley, the nba HOF is waiting my man! Seriously, with the raw materials K gets, the nba should be teeming w/ stars who are former duke players. There are a couple, but there probably should be more.

Where are you getting all your Boozer stuff from?
Boozer played 4 summer league games to my knowledge.
Game 1: 18 points, 10 rebounds
Game 2: 24 points, 9 rebounds
Game 3: 20 points, 17 rebounds
3rd in rocky mountain revue scoring, 1st in rebounding, and 5th in steals.
You can check this at www.proexposure.com
BTW, that was a list of good/great players, not just NBA players. If you count a lot of those guys on your list, I would get to add more Dukies, also.
Also, did you bother to read the asterisk? It says "denotes above average summer league play". Baxter has played well, but not close to above average. Notice I also left off Dunleavy, who didn't play that well. I don't think Wilcox even played.

I beg to differ on Lonny. Lonny's stats are watered down because he's only playing 16 minutes a game.
Here are lonny's stats prorated to 48 minutes:
28.6 PPG, 22.3 RPG, 65.5 FGP,3.4 TO, 1.14 Blks.
Here are Boozers:
26.9 PPG, 15.7 RPG, 49.2 FGP, 7.3 TO, 1.54 Blks
Not close to above average. Seems to me boozer has done better in minutes played, and shot opportunities. Nothing more.
Once again, Buck Williams is better than anyone on your list. So is steve francis for that matter. Duke should have considerably more players(and better quality) on the list considering their reputations when they enter college.

The problem is you can't do the proportion like that.
The fact is, Boozer DID do what he did, Baxter didn't.
Boozer DID average 17.5 points.
Boozer DID win a head-to-head matchup with Drew Gooden.
Boozer DID finish 1st in the Rocky Mountain Revue in rebounding.
Lonny didn't.
There is a reason Boozer got more PT. He's better .
There are a lot of people who would look like superstars if you extrapolate their stats, but unfortunately, you can't.
Buck Williams must have come before my time. I'd be surprised if he had a career better than Grant Hill.

You have called boozer not only a good/great pro player. But you've said he is 'better' than lonny after what 3 or 4 games? Oh, but its a stretch for me to 'extrapolate'? The stat sites must have the 48 minute projections for a reason, eh? Perhaps playing time isn't doled out purely on performance? They are practice games.
Wait until Lonny gets the opportunity. He will be fine. He has looked impressive whenever given the chance.
Bucks stats One of the best rebounders the pro game has ever seen. His jersey is retired by the NJ Nets if I remember correctly. I think he played on the same team as Gminski for a while.

You still don't realize that Lonny has not had ABOVE AVERAGE summer league play! That's what I was categorizing the rookies as.
If I put Lonny in there, I would also put Dunleavy, and Dunleavy probably played better than Lonny!
There is a reason I put the asterisk by the names, which you still neglect to notice.
