Lincecum vs. Perez
Tuesday, May 29 Shea Stadium | 7:10 PM ET

Tim Lincecum, RHP (2-0, 3.08)
Giants (24-25) @

Oliver Perez, LHP (6-3, 2.54)
Mets (32-17)

Scouting Report:
Giants: Lincecum was more effective than spectacular in his last outing -- which is to say that he was extremely good. He worked eight innings, his longest Major League stint yet, while allowing two runs and five hits in the Giants' 4-2 victory over Houston last Tuesday. Instead of simply overpowering hitters, Lincecum, who struck out four, forced the Astros to hit his pitch as he induced 15 ground-ball outs. Opponents are batting a mere .202 off Lincecum, who will have two extra days of rest due to a pair of scheduled off-days.
Mets: Paul Lo Duca says of Perez: "He's become a monster" Perez has won three straight starts, allowing merely three runs, 11 hits and six walks over 23 innings. His ERA in those games is 1.17. His lone loss in April was to the Giants. The Mets defense betrayed him in that game, but he also didn't stop the bleeding.

RE: Lincecum vs. Perez
that report is basically correct. the astros went at him with a different approach. Instead of trying to hit the ball hard, they just tried to make contact. So instead of pitching for a K, lincecum used that to his favor and got 15 ground ball outs. it could be a heck of a game.

I remember Perez when we was good on the pirates. He looked like a bonafide ace. He consistently baffled the reds. Looks like he is getting back to that form.

timmy has no command so far, he's gotten by on pure stuff. Unfortunately, i doubt that'll work the 2nd and 3rd times through the order.

well, 7 Innings, 3 runs and 8 K's. I can't complain. This lineup is, IMO the best in baseball. And like my dad said, the scary thing is, he could've pitched better. His curveball was a little off and he barely threw the change.

i was wondering earlier, how can the fans cheer loduca? i mean, this guy is a short, fat, italian ludacris. He's got ho's in different area codes. Not exactly a stand up guy.

lincecum outdid Perez last night but the pitching duel was close with both pitchers just throwing strikes. i cant believe they got him at the 10th pick last year. (good marketing tool for the draft) seems they wasted there money on zito with over half the team being over 30. should of use this draft to stock pile the farm and make a run in a couple of years. as far as lo duca, new york always loves a personally and hot heads like lo duca will always be a fan favorvite. they need to move him back to the two.

i wonder if bouche(sp?) will put benitiez back in there

RE: Lincecum vs. Perez
wonder what the mets can get for Gomez or Milledge

there looking at a log jam of 5 tool outfielders

Beltran
Gomez
Milledge
F. Martinez

by the way, WTF?

"He walked Mets leadoff hitter Jose Reyes, which is like handing two pairs of $300 performance sneakers to a jaguar. Then Benitez balked. Then he almost escaped an impossible situation. Then he balked again, game tied. "

LOL: "...$300 performance sneakers to a jaguar"
