Why is he forcing this amnesty bill down our throats even though he knows 80% of Americans are against it? Can anybody that voted for Bush tell me why?

Democrat or Republican. Doesn't matter. ALL are doing disastrous harm when they support something like this. If we're so in need of workers (which I do believe since we are only at about 4.6% unemployment right now WITH these illegals), increase the number of immigrants allowed here from Mexico. While you're at it, decrease the damn number coming from the flippin' Middle East.

I have NO problem with Mexicans, Hispanics, etc. Matter of fact, I have some very good friends who are Hispanic. I DO, however, have a damn problem with a group of people that come here illegally, then protest their "right" to be here. **** them.

This may come as a surprise to most of you right wingers, but I agree with them that we need to do something to stop this problem. We need to secure the border from all people trying to come in illegally no matter what race or nationality.

Its not just Mexicans that cross the border. Werent some of those terrorists they cought up in New Jersey here illegally. I have never understood why Bush wont build that fence. He is so against getting it finished its silly.

Why is it good to let whoever cross the border? Its illegal, and in an era where security is of the highest order...its downright dumb.

I love how I'm a Democrat now. If you read the original post you'll see why I posted.

I like your analogy, but it should also include the car being used to deliver produce to fat Americans. Allowing people to work and pay taxes legally seems like a much better option than using resources to find and expel them continually.

they were illegal, but I think they came through Canadian border. they say most of the terrorist feed off the welfare states, many on welfare at some point while training.

the big problem with this is welfare, the one demographic that always votes and politicians are beholden to is the elderly. We need to reform our entitlements, especially since the baby boomers didn't have enough kids, but can't because of the way it gets played politically. just look at what happened when they attempted Social Security, a very reasonable reform, they wouldn't even debate it and that was with a repub. congress and senate. Europe has same problems, except most of their immigrants are muslims so we are better off there, plus they have alot more welfare.

my guess is had they been able to get the social security reform passed, this immigration bill would look differently.

By the way, those same jobs could be had by people coming here LEGALLY from Mexico.

Why aren't they? They are. Trust me. We just need to INCREASE the number allowed. Those that are already here illegally can be placed at the back of the f'n line.

These amnesty programs are like the toll booths in Illinois. Just a one-time temporary thing and we promise not to do that anymore. Uh huh. Sure.

When Bush was governor here, he struck up a really good friendship with Mexican President Vicente Fox. That is why he has such a conciliatory attitude towards Mexico and wants to help them resolve their economic situation which is really bad. One only has to go to some Mexican border towns to understand it.
