Would you like a cookie? For anyone on the board, feel free to correct me, but I just can't seem to find where CUSA was a topic of discussion in this thread. And cut the SEC comparison, which is still a much higher rated league by the way. The SEC had its worst year in a long long time and still had 4 #1 seeds. Rice is probably better than any SEC team, but the SEC has 4 teams ahead of CUSA's #2.

Again though, the key point....let's stick to the topic at hand.

You flame the messanger who wanted to add something to the broader discussion (NCAA baseball tournament).......I think the person responding remained in the boundaries of topical conversation.

Lighten up!
Yeah right.

So can we use this logic to go on the CUSA board, jump in a football thread, and talk about the Big East's 5-0 bowl record and 37-8 OOC record.....

.....or how about we jump in a CUSA basketball thread and talk about the BE's successes in the interest of "broader discussion". 03-melodramatic

There's a changing of the guard taking place in Big East "Olympic" sports.

Louisville has begun the process of replacing Notre Dame's dominance 05-mafia

Nuck Fotre Dame 03-nerner

The doubleheader sweep of the Irish this year was one of the best days of live baseball I've ever experienced. It was a perfect sunny day with a nice breeze to boot.

I'm not real sure if they just graduated a lot of guys last season or if they have had a downturn in talent. All they lose this year is 1 weekend starter (not their #1), and their starting 1st baseman and CF. I expect they'll be better next year. I don't expect them to have as many top finishes as they have for much of the decade with the new teams in the league and RU & St John's remaining solid.

A number of things...
..there are several reasons that contributed to a down year in baseball for Notre Dame:

1) A new head coach and coaching staff came in to replace long time coach Paul Maineri who went to LSU last June.

2) Head Coach Dave Schrage's wife died of cancer right before the season.

3) ND graduated a lot of talent and played a bunch of freshmen.

ND lost its top three starting pitchers (Jeff Manship, Jeff Samardzija and Tom Thornton) from the year before, plus Big East batting champ Craig Cooper.

It was a rebuilding year for sure. ND has a very good recruiting class coming in.

I want to see what Dave Schrage (he had Evansville ranked #17 in 2006) can do in a year or two.

Good luck to all three Big East teams in the regionals. I am a big fan of Big East baseball.

I hope to see Louisville, Rutgers and St. Johns do well and show teams in the South and West that the Big East can play some good baseball.

You would get ripped to shreds if you did that!
