Some idiots think Franks should stay and hire an OC, well QB coach Pry is the one calling the plays, and he was an outstanding record setting OC before Franks ruined him:
" native of Altoona, Pa., and a 1974 graduate of Marshall University, Pry spent 11 seasons as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at East Stroudsburg (Pa.) University. He helped East Stroudsburg to a league title and NCAA Division II playoff berth in 1991 and enjoyed a record-setting season in 1996. In 1996, the Warrior offense led NCAA Division II in total offense and passing offense while setting 54 school, conference and national records....
As the offensive coordinator at VMI from 1985-88, Pry coached with Duke head coach Carl Franks during the 1985 season. During Pry's tenure at VMI, the Keydet offense established 27 school records on offense."

Franks doesn't call plays. Pry does. Franks is called the OC, I think, because it's his playbook. Basically, he makes all the plays, and Pry chooses which ones to run during the game.

finally the truth is out. "
It's hilarious how Franks can take a record setting OC who led all of div.II in offense, and a fantastic defensive coordiator who took the ACC's worst defense ever to 6th in ACC and 1st against run in his first year, and lose like his life depends on it. Obviously Duke needs a new offense and should consider great offensive head coaches like Urban Meyer of Bowling Green, Grobe of Wake, who can win with balanced offenses with mediocre talent. USC's Norm Chow is the highest paid assistant in the country and seems to immediately turn QBs into Heisman candidates or winners everywhere he goes, he may be the best pass oriented offensive coach in the country, and may be interviewing at Utah of all places, Duke would be a much better choice.
