Cardinals will have the day off tomorrow. The winner between the next game USF vs #1 seed St. Johns will also have the day off.

Well played complete game in all facets for the Cards! We shut down the Knight offense, which is in the top 15 in the country. First time in 23 games they had scored 1 run or less. Starter Justin Marks for UofL struggled at the start and held them to a run in the 1st, but pitched great after that. Rutgers' last hit of the game was in the 3rd inning.

Every Cards starter reached base and 3 had multiple hits. The Sr leadoff hitter hit his first homer of the season to break the game open in the 6th.

Coach McDonnell has done a great job. He inherited a good team that wasn't rebuilding, but definitely has them playing better than last year. He also seems to be stepping up the recruiting. That's key because while almost all our pitching returns besides our closer, the field starters leaving will really hurt. 6 or 7 of our 9 starting hitters (counting DH) are Sr's.

So far here's the pitching for the Cards: 2 runs & 6 hits over 18 innings.

So what is the record now?

The only way we ensure ourselves a bid to the World Series is by winning the tournament now. Its still likely if we make the championship game if we don't win tomorrow however it definitely won't happen.

40-18. We set the school record for wins today, the previous best was 39 wins in 2002. That was the last NCAA appearance.

Rutgers regional chances did get hurt today. RPI probably drops back below 50 tomorrow. I agree that a loss tomorrow to Nova and they are totally out. They probably are also done with a win but then a game 4 loss to UofL early on Friday.

If they won 3 over the next two days, but then lose in the title game, that likely gets them in. That'd mean 2 wins over UofL on Friday. I say the question mark will be if they beat Nova & UofL once, but lose on Friday in the repeat. If that happens, they better root for tournament favorites to win.
