when Bob Huggins was announced as head coach at cincinnati, I was upset. I wanted uc to hire a big name coach instead of someone from the obscure MAC conference. His press conference was very subdued and he answered a reporters question about " does he believe he can win at cincinnati?"...Huggins answer was ' IF I DONT WIN, I LOSE MY JOB AND DONT GET PAID."...I liked that answer. Later that night on the Bob Trumpy sports talk radio show a caller got on the air and said that he was a former AKRON basketball player that played for huggins. He said Cincinnati had no idea just what they got as a coach. He said that they played a game against Morehead State and was expected to win by 20 points. He said they won by only 8. On the long bus ride back to Akron, Huggins was so upset and he made the players sit and watch the game tape over and over and really raked them over the coals for their lack of intensity and lack of desire to win. He said that Huggins biggest traits were that he loved his players, he expected all of them to play as hard as possible every day in practice and games. He expected nothing less and nothing more. In laymen's terms....HE HATED TO LOSE AND DID NOT ACCEPT LOSING. Huggins had said many times that it is a waste to learn something from a Loss. He said you can win and learn something in the win. That is what makes Bob Huggins one of the greatest coaches in the college game. You will love him and you will love how his teams respond. He will not accept a kid missing classes or being late. He will not let a kid be given grades. He makes them go to class. Unlike many other schools. Cincinnati lost a GREAT man and a great coach. Good luck and many Cincy fans will now be following your team and rooting for them to succeed also. Hope you all know how lucky you are. Congratulations.

You guys got a good coach, congrats. I was at Akron while he was the coach and he made it fun for all of us with post season bids. I am just glad he's out of Cincinnati, he was ALWAYS too good for that stinkin' river town down there in northern Kentucky.
