Prospect Watch
I figure we should have a thread where you can update everyone on the progress of your team's prospects.
Last night Tim Lincecum pitched his 1st game above high A and was awesome. 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 8 K's. In the same game, Nate schierholtz hit his 3rd homer and 3rd double of the season and pat misch threw 3 more shutout innings in relief.

Homer Bailey has his first start in triple A today. I'll take how he does with a grain of salt because it is cold as f*ck in cincy and louisville (where his team plays)
Our other top pitching prospect, Johnny Cueto 20, made a start in high A and had control issues. But he still only gave up 2 runs in 4.1 innings with 3 k's.
Our top hitting prospect Jay Bruce is hitting .385 in high A and is making a push for double A at the age of 20.
Our top pick from last year, Drew Stubbs, didn't do sh*t last year but is off to a good start in single A this year. He is hitting .444 with an OPS at about .950.

He is still an elite prospect though. I was hoping he would start in double A, but I guess not.

He turned 20 a week or two ago.
Homer so far has thrown three shutout innings with 3 strikeouts.

homer did a good job today. 5.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 4 K's. He's no lincecum, of course he's about 3 years younger.

He did a very good job. If Milton keeps on faltering Homer will be up in June at the latest.
Also our top hitter in the upper levels, Joey Votto, hit a grandslam and knocked in five in his triple A yesterday.

well lincecum had his 2nd start tonight, and was even better. 7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 9K's, 87 pitches. In his 2 starts he's gone 12 innings given up 6 H, 5 BB's and fanned 17. I listened to the game on the radio and he was throwing 94-97 with great command. It sounded like the hammer curve and changeup can be thrown for strikes at any time. I hope we keep playing like trash so i can see him sooner. So far his stats are far better than hughes. Of course he's 2 years older than hughes and bailey.

Linecum certaintly looks like he is going to be an ace. He and Cain will be sick. What level is he at right now.

Have the Giants thought about calling up Lincecum to pitch out of the bullpen? He may not be ready to start in the majors, but he could be nasty in short relief.

i hope not. That's by far the last thing i'd want to happen this whole season. There's no better way to screw up a pitcher than by switching up his role. Plus, i don't want another relief pitcher, i want a dominant starter.
The dodgers have stupidly done that with billingsley, and IMO it was the worst move the dodgers could make. They put bums like penny, schmidt and tomko in the rotation, while letting billingsley waste away in the bullpen. Talk about the best way to stunt a pitchers progression. As a giants fan, i'm happy they did it, but as a baseball fan, i'm pissed off.

Yesterday Homer pitched 5 innings giving up 1 run with 4 strikeouts. Great start so far in Triple A for homer.

he was alright in his 1st game, but got blasted in his second. He's barely struck out any batters either. Also, andrew miller and daniel bard are getting shelled. Well miller's had one good start and one awful start (he's at high A). Bard's had two terrible starts.

another lincecum update tonight vs. the mariners team:
6.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 11 K's. So far he's gone 18.2 Innings, with 28 k's and 5 BB's and 0 runs
this kid is sick! unfortunately at this point it looks like we probably won't see him for a long time, because the rotation is doing well. There's just no room.
