2 starts ago lincecum went 6.1 and gave up his only run of the season, oddly enough, he didn't give up any hits. It was his worst game in terms of control though, he walked like 5. But that ship was easily righted yesterday when Lincecum threw 6 shutout innings, giving up 3 hits 0 BB's while striking out 14! Yep, i said 14 in 6 innings. Damn, this kid needs to be called up.

Jay Bruce is the best hitter in the minors. No contest. Kid is dominating in the most notorious pitchers league in the minors. Hitting .335 with 9 jacks 29 rbis and OPSing over 1000 which is unheard of in the FSL, much less for a kid that just turned 20.

He needs to be in AA right now.

Also, talk that Homer may be called up tomorrow.

no contest? i think longoria, maybin and upton would have something to say about that. Also, i doubt bailey's gonna be called up tommorrow, since they put him on the DL 2 days ago.

I think Bruce is by far the best hitter in the minors. Hitting over .340 with an OPS over 1.000. Those numbers are off the charts for a 20 year old in the FSL.

umm, upton's a 19 yo, in AA. He had 4 HR's in his first 3 games. I'm not saying bruce is overrated, because i'm sure he's excellent, but that's a lofty comment to make about a guy who you've probably never seen ( or maybe you have?).

Bruce was named the top outfield prospect in the Midwest league last year. Upton and Maybin were both in that league.

kinda hard ot believe since maybin was named the 6th best prospect coming into the season and upton was 9th. but i didnt realize bruce was 14th. bruce is something though. And to think he had a real up and down season last year.

Bailey has been dissapointing to say the least this year. His WHIP is really nice but his strikeout rate has plummetted...

Bruce was hurt so his average plummetted. But the scary thing is that other than Bruce, none of our top prospects are performing very well.

yeah, his K/BB ratio is weak, but i wouldn't worrry. His BAA is nasty. I get the feeling his problem is the same one Cain's had at times this year; he couldn't get his offspeed stuff over, so the hitters were sitting on the fastball, thus his K's were down. But lately he's been striking out more because all of a sudden he's been able to command his curve and change.

RE: Prospect Watch
the Reds are an absolute joke this year so I'm going to keep on updating on my man Bruce.

Here's what he's doing against the Florida State League so far:
.351 batting average (1st)
9 HR (2nd)
32 RBI (5th)
60 hits (1st)
14 doubles (5th)
.649 slugging (1st)
28 extra-base hits (1st)
34 runs (1st)
5 triples (T1st)

the sad thing is, BA only put him at like #9 on today's prospect hot sheet. What a joke. he should be top 3. But I guess it doesn't really matter.

RE: Prospect Watch
Our season is lost.....so bring up Homer and Votto. Homer has an ERA under 2 and an opponent batting average under .180. Votto is hitting right at .300. I want to see the future.

His final line: Homer: 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 9 K, 0 BB
73 strikes, 23 balls.
Retired the last 12 he faced.

He has nothing else to prove in triple A, bring him up.

The reds are in Denver this weekend so I doubt they bring him up. If/when he makes his debut at home, it will sellout so they will make sure he doesn't debut on the road. You should be safe. Also, Josh Hamilton is playing with Louisville on his rehab assignment.

RE: Prospect Watch
Alot of minor league news for the Reds.

Jay Bruce and Joey Votto were selected to the Futures Game.

Jay Bruce and our top pitching prospect Johnny Cueto were bumped up to Double A.

Last years 2nd rounder Sean Watson was bumped up to High A after dominating Low A.

Former top prospect Richie Gardner was bumped up to Triple A. He dominating double A after numerous surgeries. It's good to see him doing well.
